I believe that every individual is a whole and healthy being. Trauma that occurs in childhood or later in life creates a block that makes one feel less than whole and far from healthy. Because of this, anxiety, depression, addictions to substances, food, and other destructive behaviors become a way of coping. My goal is to help my clients restore the feeling of wholeness and well-being by providing a safe, supportive and nurturing environment in which they can work through difficult issues and restore their true selves. I see it everyday...

My background includes intensive training in adolescent therapy, Trauma Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, and other skills based therapies.
I provide a supportive and collaborative approach to therapy. One of the most important aspects in therapy is for patients to feel heard, respected, and understood. Given that each individual is unique, and no one issue is ever the same among different people, our approach is integrative and tailored to meet the needs of the person, not the "problem". we strive to create a compassionate, non-judgemental environment for patients to learn, grow, explore, challenge, and to live the life they want to be living. We specialize in working with adults - individual, couples, and family - with anxiety, depression, PTSD/trauma, relationship problems, substance abuse, ADD/ADHD, and LGBTQ issues.

For many, the most heartbreaking part of trauma or past hurts is that love and compassion is needed the most but is often the hardest to let in. I tend to work with highly sensitive people, creatives, healers of all kinds, empaths, and spiritual seekers. I can help with anxiety, depression, negative self-talk, self-destructiveness, shame, numbness, PTSD, C-PTSD, and relationship distress. Were you abused, assaulted, neglected, or put down? Do you feel overwhelmed? Is it hard to find your voice? Feeling bad about yourself? Uncomfortable in your skin? All of this can shift. "The wound is the place where the Light enters you." -Rumi

Anger Management/Conflict Resolution, Depression, Poor Self-Esteem, and Trauma can all be closely related.
My goal is to help people connect with themselves and others in meaningful and satisfying ways. Connection with the self allows acceptance and enjoyment of life without fear, suspicion, self-judgment, etc., which can prevent us from living life to its fullest. Connection with others allows us to "double our joy and divide our grief." Addressing issues such as depression, self-esteem, or anger can enhance our abilities to know ourselves and be fully present with others. I use an eclectic therapeutic style so that the work can be tailored to fit each client in each session.

My professional experience includes helping individuals, children, and families dealing with depression, anxiety, substance use, relationship issues, trauma related issues, and parenting difficulties.
With all life's pressures sometimes we put our own needs aside. This can manifest itself anywhere from burn out to anxiety and depression. My goals as a therapist are to provide a safe and supportive environment in order to help improve and nurture healthier relationships for my clients. I will work with you to discover, and uncover, the things that get in your way personally and/or professionally and help you gain a better understanding and acceptance of yourself.

We'll work together to learn about root causes that contribute to your struggles, growth towards acceptance of how past trauma may have created anxiety/depression and embrace change as it develops through connection.
Have you tried to overcome obstacles and barriers to a healthy, happy life? Are you at a place where you want to be healthy and thrive in your life? Have you considered reaching out to someone else for help but struggle with being vulnerable and asking for help? You have taken the first step in recognizing that working through life’s challenges alone is not necessary. I have experience helping others through adjustment periods and struggles that often overwhelm and can at times debilitate and create stress, anxiety, depression and difficulty with interpersonal relationships.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
