If you need psychological testing, educational support, school placement assistance or parenting strategies, email me at brendan@prattcenter.
As a father of two children, I know how important it is to seek the best education for our children. Being a compassionate psychologist with over ten years experience in supporting children who struggle with learning, inattention, anxiety and depression, I understand that learning, socializing and adapting to new environments can be difficult. Psychological testing can highlight a child's strengths, clarify areas of need and provide parents and teachers with practical steps they can take. I work with children with all levels of skill and areas of concern.

I welcome referrals for ADHD, learning disabilities, work or school accommodations, IQ testing, autism spectrum disorders, psychological concerns, treatment-resistant conditions, giftedness, personality testing, cognitive decline, and others.
I am a licensed psychologist with vast experience in diagnostic evaluations of children, adolescents, and adults. I am also an Adjunct Professor at the Stanford Department of Psychiatry where I train and supervise Forensic Psychiatry Fellows. In my practice, I offer a variety of evaluation options to help you understand your, or your loved ones', strengths and challenges as well as their root cause. The purpose of these evaluations is two-fold: to present a "full picture" understanding of a person, and to provide individualized strength-based recommendations.

In addition to private practice, I am a Clinical Assistant Professor at Stanford University, where I see patients in the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Department and the Adult Psychiatry Department (therapy and neuropsychological testing).
I understand that reaching out for support can be difficult, and it is important to find a therapist you feel you can build a strong relationship with to reach your goals. I'd like to share a bit about myself and my approach, to help you decide if we may be a good fit to work together. My goal is to create a safe space for you to learn new strategies to cope with difficult emotions and build a life that aligns with your values. My approach tends to be collaborative and engaging. I integrate research-based treatments (including mindfulness, CBT, DBT) with empathy, warmth, and compassion to help you create positive change in your life

I also provide comprehensive psycho-diagnostic testing.
Are you feeling stuck in the same type of relationships, arguments, or habits? When you feel stuck, it can be helpful to talk with someone to consider a fresh perspective. Previous ways of facing obstacles in your life may not be working and you might want to learn new ways to cope, or you may need extra support while going through a challenging experience. Typically, I help clients with stress, depression, worries/anxiety, life transitions, professional/sport/academic performance, and substance abuse. I enjoy working with people who are interested in self-growth and are curious about themselves and others.

Other specialties are insomnia (CBT-I) and ADHD evaluation.
Whether life is going well or you are struggling to feel well, therapy could be a helpful and powerful tool in moving forward. Finding the right therapist, however, could be overwhelming. With investments of energy, time, and money, it is important to select a therapist with whom you feel comfortable—someone that "gets" you and in whom you have trust and confidence. I enjoy helping adults understand their barriers and strengths to help them meet their goals in the various aspects of their lives, such as relationships, work, school, and health.

What do I do if my child can focus on interesting things but takes 3 hours to do 30 minutes of homework? What if my child doesn't seem to be doing as well as I thought they would in school, can something be done? How do I stop feeling so down and blue, or anxious? What if I had a concussion and I am not getting better, but the doctor told me to just rest and do nothing, are there ways for me to improve my condition? Do I have the early signs of dementia? what can be done if I do? My child went to college and failed, is there hope for them to get better? I provide solutions to these questions and more!

My typical client is a child or young adult who is struggling in school. My job is to determine why he or she is struggling and to prescribe solutions. To do this I must have a full picture of the individual's strengths and areas of need. I also see adults and seniors. I have many years of experience of assisting people of a wide variety of ages and assist parents through the school system and through their lives. Please call if you have questions that I might be able to answer.

Hello! I am Dr. Efrain Zepeda. I am a bilingual (English/Spanish) Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Social Worker. In the past 23 years working as a mental health professional, one of the most important lessons I have learned is that the most powerful therapeutic intervention is the interpersonal experience that occurs in the client-therapist relationship. Together we can analyze the past to co-create a new meaning with the goal of achieving healing. I strongly believe that therapy is not about labeling or judging, but rather about personal discovery.

Testing and Evaluation Therapists

What is a psychological evaluation?

A psychological evaluation is a test or assessment most commonly administered by a trained psychologist that is intended to be used in the diagnosis of specific psychological conditions, such as ADHD, mood disorders, personality disorders, dementia or Alzheimer's, and learning disabilities. Psychological evaluations can help inform future treatment decisions and help direct clients to professionals and resources that may be most helpful, such as potential therapy options or additional school supports.

Can psychological evaluations be done on individuals of any age group?

Psychological evaluations are conducted on individuals of all ages and can be beneficial to individuals across the lifespan. However, specific types of evaluations may be most frequently conducted on individuals of certain age groups. For instance, ADHD or learning disability testing is often conducted in children ages 4-12--the period of time when ADHD symptoms most commonly emerge. In contrast, cognitive functioning assessments, such as those conducted to diagnose dementia, are most commonly conducted in elderly individuals. Clients should ensure that the psychologist they are seeing has specific expertise in conducting evaluations in their age group to ensure they receive a correct diagnosis.

How long does a psychological evaluation take?

Psychological evaluations vary in length depending on the test being administered and the goals of the evaluation; however, most evaluations are 2-4 hours in length. Some evaluations may take as long as 8 hours but can often be spread across multiple days. In some cases, clients will also attend an intake session or interview, which can help the psychologist assess client functioning outside of the testing environment.

How should I prepare for a psychological test and evaluation?

Individuals do not need to prepare for psychological tests or evaluations in most cases, as they are intended to measure a client's baseline psychological status without test-specific preparation. However, clients may want to brainstorm a list of questions for their psychologist about any tests they are receiving prior to the assessment, including what potential outcomes may mean for what next steps the client should take.
