Hi there, I’m Nydia! I focus on working with adult women struggling with anxiety and relationship distress. I use a compassionate approach providing a safe space where clients can experience the healing powers of grace, empathy, and validation. I believe all behavior makes sense in the larger context of emotions and attachment needs. My approach uses a combination of Emotionally Focused Therapy and Attachment Theory to understand the unmet needs our emotions try to communicate, identify relational patterns we get stuck in, and then use this information to empower clients to find new ways to get previously unmet need satisfied.

In my practice, I often use Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Emotionally Focused Therapy ( EFT) in my practice.
I'm glad you're here. Navigating life, and especially relationships, can be challenging. In our rapidly changing world, filled with uncertainties and unknowns, it's easy to feel disconnected, hopeless, and stuck. It's natural to slip into a survival mindset, simply trying to make it through each day. However, self-understanding is the foundational step towards accessing the deeper aspects of yourself and fostering genuine connections. I'm here to provide a safe space where you are seen, heard, and cared for.

I work with clients to provide a compassionate client-centered focus, with practical tools to help change negative thinking patterns, and insights from Attachment Theory and Emotionally Focused Therapy to foster healing, growth, and lasting change tailored to each individual's unique needs and goals.
Do you struggle with anxious thoughts, a challenging relationship, or experiences from the past that affect living an authentic, present life with those around you? Do you feel overwhelmed and exhausted just getting through the day or have the thought that there’s no light at the end of the tunnel? Do you wonder if life could somehow feel better? Now more than ever, people are feeling uncertain, anxious or overwhelmed about setting healthy boundaries, managing stress, or navigating life transitions. Pushing these feelings and experiences to the side can lead to long term issues in your life and how you relate to those around you.

I also use techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy to help my clients meet their goals.
I am a Latina, neurodivergent (ADHD) therapist who clients have described as friendly, upbeat, and honest. I love to work with neurodivergent young adults who are struggling with relationship issues, anxiety, trauma, and ADHD. Clients who work with me tend to like joking in session, being challenged with compassion, and working collaboratively to work towards their goals. Together, we can identify your strengths, find ways to improve everyday life, and create a new understanding of what it means to have a healthy relationship with yourself and others.

Telling someone that you barely know over the internet about your darkest secrets can be scary. However, the fact that you are reaching out and researching at this moment shows strength and courage. As someone who has gone through the process of seeking help from a professional therapist.

Hi there, I'm Richard! I have been an LCSW since 1985 and have extensive clinical experience treating adults and the elderly. I enjoy helping others with depression, anxiety, adjustment difficulties, anger, PTSD, stress, relationship conflicts, and aging issues. For me, cognitive-behavioral therapy is the gold standard, but I use other modalities depending on the client's needs. I am a Navy veteran and often bring the military skills I learned into the therapeutic alliance. I view psychotherapy as a partnership: an honest and open collaboration between two people addressing areas of concern.

My approach to therapy is that this is a path to recovery that involves the mind, body, and soul. Therapy is not a one-stop shop; it is hard work. I will help you master a variety of techniques. One of my goals as your therapist is to have you feel in charge of how you respond and how you conduct your life. I help you do this by learning to become aware of your inner experience and learning to befriend what is going on inside of yourself. I truly believe that therapy is a collaborative process where you need to feel 100% comfortable with your therapist.

With 27+ years of experience as a seasoned therapist, I provide a "sauna for your feelings," a safe space and container for you to step away from your life to reflect, release and re-align. My goal is to facilitate the identification of difficult thoughts, feelings, and past experiences that prevent us from being comfortable with who we would like to be, what we want, and the kind of relationships that we want to have with others. I find that people who fully invest in themselves have the greatest rate of success.

Emotionally Focused Therapists

Who is emotionally focused therapy for?

Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) is for couples who are emotionally distressed, stuck in an unsatisfying relationship pattern or feeling deeply alienated. They may even believe the relationship is beyond repair. Very often, the partners display intense anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal in the relationship. In addition, EFT is helpful to couples and individuals who have difficulty expressing emotions and those who have trouble regulating emotions.

Why do people need emotionally focused therapy?

People need emotionally focused therapy because the need for others is built into the brain, but the pressures of daily life can erode feelings of love, and couples often do not have the skills to find their way back to the comfort of each other. Instead, they may be stuck in repetitive patterns of anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal. Emotionally focused therapy regards such strong negative feelings as expressions of protest over the loss of connection and turns them into pathways of reconnection.

What happens in emotionally focused therapy?

Over the course of eight to 20 weekly sessions, couples de-escalate their negative emotional reactivity to one another so that they can listen to each other and be responsive to each other’s needs. Then the deep emotional and physical bond is restored, giving partners a sense of comfort and security, which they can use to solve whatever problems come their way. The therapist plays an active role, helping partners understand how anger and withdrawal are actually misguided cries for connection.

What problems does emotionally focused therapy treat?

EFT is designed to help couples stuck in dysfunctional relationship patterns regain closeness and rebuild their relationship. Typically, such couples experience considerable distress, with partners feeling alienated and distrustful of one another, not certain their relationship can survive. EFT is also helpful to individuals experiencing attachment-related fears of loss; it helps them learn to use their fears as a way of eliciting the closeness they desire.
