My preferred methods of treatment are CBT and PCIT as I believe they offer tools to help families quickly and effectively.
Hello, my name is Jennifer, and I am a Marriage and Family Therapist. Over the past 17+ years I have predominately worked with children and adolescents and their families. I specialize in working with this population. My goal is not to just treat the child, but also to equip the parents to be able to help their child in the home. My goal is "parent as therapist."

I am certified in Parent Child Interaction Therapy ( PCIT) which focuses on improving the family dynamics between a child and his or her family through parent coaching.
Your goals can become reality. Not only can you change for the better, but you can continue fulfillment in life past the walls of treatment. During treatment I hope to communicate that therapy does not have to be scary, sad, or judgmental. Instead, I aspire to create a safe space that allows clients to gain lasting insight and growth. Thus, as a trained professional and passionate individual, my mission is to foster self-sufficiency for my clients by promoting growth and success beyond the time of treatment.

Additionally, I am certified in PCIT to teach parents skills to enhance their relationships with their children and address behavioral issues.
As a 1.5 generation Vietnamese-American woman, I can bring understanding to the struggles that come with navigating generational trauma, personal trauma, and cultural and sexual identities. I am continuously aware of how cultural and sociopolitical factors impact your sense of well-being and relationships. I believe together, we can work on overcoming the hurt and pain from your past to help you stop feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or angry moving forward. I will journey with you as you find your happiness, cultivate better relationships, and learn to embrace all aspects of yourself.

I am trained in PCIT, CBT, and completed my year-long doctoral internship with Rogers Memorial Hospital in Wisconsin specializing in treatment of OCD via ERP in residential, inpatient, and outpatient settings.
While I approach therapy from a Cognitive Behavioral perspective, focusing on challenging thoughts and changing behaviors, I do so with the primary focus on respect for my patients and their individual issues. I want you to feel supported in session but also know that you will be challenged and tasked with completing goals in between sessions. I greatly enjoy helping my patients reach their own goals to be successful in their life, especially in the areas of social relationships, academics, employment, and self-care.

THE Motherload: what I call the mental load of motherhood. This is what is consuming your thoughts day and night. You are the person responsible for keeping your family’s lives together. There is a never-ending to do list that leaves you feeling overwhelmed and burnt-out. You want to be the happy, engaged parent but often feel irritated and angry. There's no time for self-care and “me time” is going to the bathroom without a kid hanging onto your leg. You are struggling to find any joy in parenthood and yearn for a break. On top of it all you feel like a failure for not being able to handle it all and guilty for feeling this way.

Hi there, I am Donna I love a mixture of different approaches to therapy to get to the root of what has been difficult or confusing at times during our journey in life. the ups and downs in our journey in relationships, job stress, and family interactions can be overwhelming and stressful, learning balance is part of what I believe is finding ourselves and identifying the needs versus the wants of life choices and understanding ourselves.

Coping with life's changes can be overwhelming, especially when societal, familial, and personal expectations weigh on you. We all aspire to lead fulfilling lives and find happiness once more, but we are often expected to be grateful, to stop complaining, and to not talk about our feelings. So many of us feel these challenges but believe we’re the only ones. I was born in Hong Kong and came to the U.S. during my teenage years. Learning a new culture and speaking a different language while expected to be successful. Having support makes a world of difference. 请在页面上按“中文”以中文阅读我的简介

It is exciting, you are taking steps to find support. I am licensed in CA and NJ. I work with individuals, couples and families experiencing relationship stress or attachment trauma. The hallmark of trauma is the loss of basic trust. Our mind-body connection is powerful. In the short-term, it finds the quickest route to safety. Yet, overtime the protection it affords can become a pattern that adversely affects our well-being. I am passionate about helping individuals, couples and families to hear each others' feelings and attachment needs. Reaching authentic bonding with self and others is the goal of attachment based therapy.

Parent-Child Interaction (PCIT) Therapists
Does parent-child interaction therapy (PCIT) work?
PCIT is an evidence-based treatment that has been shown to be effective across domains, including for children with behavioral problems, those on the autism spectrum, and those who have experienced early childhood trauma. Further, studies have found that the skills developed through PCIT benefit not only the child in therapy but also siblings, as the parent internalizes lessons learned in sessions and is able to incorporate them into interactions with other family members.
How long does PCIT last?
The duration of treatment depends on the specific challenges clients face. Sessions are typically 60 to 90 minutes long, and treatment lasts, on average, between 12 and 20 sessions. Factors that influence treatment duration include how regularly a client attends treatment, how much progress is achieved between sessions, the particular skills that need development, and the extent to which the parent and therapist see improvement.
Can PCIT be done online?
PCIT is among the therapy types best suited for video sessions. Therapists are able to communicate with parents with essentially the same ease, and by observing the parent and child at home in their normal environment, the therapist may gain additional insight into their interactions, as the child will have their normal toys and may feel more comfortable and act more naturally than they would in a therapist’s room.
Does PCIT help parents?
In addition to the skills parents develop through the treatment, PCIT has also been shown to reduce frustration, stress, and depression in parents and promote confidence and a sense of calm when dealing with their children. The desired outcomes of PCIT include a reduction in defiant and aggressive behavior by children and an improvement in communicating their feelings productively, complying with parental instruction, and behaving according to parents’ rules. Growth in these areas can be a relief for parents.
