I welcome you on the journey of healing and personal transformation from a holistic approach to mind, body, and emotions. This may allow you to free yourself from belief systems, thought patterns, and habits that seem to be not working anymore and adversely influence health, relationships, personal growth, and inner peace. Stuck or repressed emotions feed into anxiety, depression, or anger, disrupting one's mental, physical, and social well-being. I work collaboratively in the session with you towards self-actualization & emotional fulfillment. My hope is to provide a safe space to cultivate awareness.

I often work with people who grapple with hard questions to which there is no one "right" answer. I offer a non-judegmental atmosphere in which each person can seek his or her own answers. Therapy is a co-creation. I work with each person to find what "speaks" to him / her. That may include talking, mindfulness practices, or creative arts therapies. Using these methods accesses parts of the brain that can't be reached through words alone, and puts people in the flow of their wisdom and creativity, from which solutions to problems can emerge.

I help individuals realize their potential, whether it is in a spiritual direction or in motivation to perform better in life. The underlying principles are the same. I work in a "positive psychology" format, which means that there is often more focus on one's existing strengths, instead of on some deficit or illness. I help people look at the workings of the mind, and to improve through specific exercises and homework. The ideal client is one who recognizes that they feel stuck and is willing to take the necessary actions to begin moving forward.

I have experience working with anxiety, work/life balance, depression, relationship struggles, exploring identity, self-compassion, grief, existential crises and what it means to be a human in this world.
Accepting new clients! What would you like to have different in your life? You and I will work together to help you meet your goals. For some, it might be to “feel better” and we can figure out what that means for you. Others are looking to get to know themselves better, to figure out what kind of life they want, or how to be their most authentic version of themselves. For some, it is addressing more specific needs, such as anxiety, sadness, feeling stuck, work-life balance, relationships, sexuality, or exploring values.

My experience has been in receiving advanced training and education in attachment theory, substance use, sexuality counseling, and in the existential.
Although I have experience, education, and training in psychology, you will always be the expert on “you”. I approach therapy as a collaboration where we unite as a team to hold space for, explore, and honor some of the most important aspects of your life. I look forward to building a unique approach to therapy with each client that values you as the other half of our team, and I recognize that what might work for one person may not be the best way to collaborate with you.

Your frustration, confusion, longing, nihilism, existential concerns, and uncertainty about what the heck you're feeling in the first place are all welcome.
Calling all abstract thinkers who long for more concrete self-understanding! My philosophy that intellectualizing can be an amazing tool and a stepping stone to feeling, rather than a defense or a cognitive distortion, may be for you. I align with my fellow bottom-up processors' need to collect and synthesize all available information about ourselves and others before taking action. Good vibes are nice, but I will hold space for all vibes, so you won’t hear any platitudes from me. In our therapeutic relationship, I will bring nonjudgmental support and my knowledge of neurodiversity, and you’ll bring what you know about being you.

Are you currently searching for a sense of meaning and purpose in your life? Do you find yourself in an existential/spiritual emergency? Are you exploring your personal identity, expression, or sexuality? I help people of all ages increase self-awareness and decrease symptomology by bringing unconscious material into conscious awareness. Mental health concerns eventually arise because deep in our mind/body/soul we yearn for authenticity/individuation. Together we can explore which aspects of ourselves that no longer serve us to let go, in order to make space for something new to enter.

My work is influenced by my training in Humanistic-Existential, Jungian, and Buddhist psychologies.
Even happily anticipated life events can challenge your coping skills, resulting in feelings of overwhelm or confusion. I work with both men and women who have endured a difficult pregnancy or childbirth, or whose past may be affecting how they are experiencing pregnancy or parenting. Other areas of focus: Children experiencing grief and loss; Adolescents exploring gender, sexuality, autonomy, and next steps after high school; Helping professionals struggling with self-care; Graduate students balancing academic and personal life.

Existential Therapists

How does existential therapy work?

Existential therapy focuses on a patient’s inner experiences. The therapist tries to help the individual comprehend and alleviate symptoms by exploring their interior life. By confronting negative disquiet and emotions, the individual will hopefully become more open to finding meaning and purpose. This therapy can be administered to individuals or groups.

Is existential therapy evidence-based?

Existential therapy is an evidence-based practice. Research has determined that existential therapy can lead to significant improvement in the mental health of patients, and for some people it can be just as effective as cognitive behavioral therapy. The benefits of existential therapy are enduring, even long after treatment has ended.

How long does existential therapy last?

The goal of existential therapy is to understand a person’s internal experiences, which may sound like a lengthy process, but it does not have to be so in-depth. However, sessions are not short-term, and therapy can continue for months or up to a year. And because patients learn the theory behind existential therapy during treatment, they can also practice its tenets throughout life after therapy sessions have been completed.

Is existential therapy effective?

According to research, many patients find success with existential therapy. Researchers note that the therapy is particularly useful in improving feelings of isolation, feelings of purposelessness, as well as conditions such as anxiety and depression. Improvements in problem areas can persist even after the end of existential therapy, as individuals can continue working on themselves by using the tools they’ve developed during treatment.
