TRAUMA informed therapist - Interactions with friends, co-workers and family become hijacked by frustration, anger, regret, fear, unmet needs...leading to fights, shame, guilt, depression, self loathing and destructive behaviors. Wondering why...how come I keep making the same choices which end up as mistakes in relationships with family, in love, at work, with friends...with self. The Body Heals The Score, a ground breaking book which discusses 40+ years of research, suggests meditation as an intervention to break destructive patterns, resulting in a life worth living. Happiness IS possible. YES, it is possible.

My focus in therapy is growing my clients. They come to see me because they feel stuck or in pain from work, family or their romantic relationship. All of this is natural and predictable. Life is challenging. We need to know ourselves well enough to define our direction by finding meaningful work. Learning relationship skills are key to making love last forever. Resolving childhood wounds frees most of us to forgive ourselves and our parents to love more deeply. Partnership parenting is another important skill set. If you feel stuck, come see me so you can move through the obstacles, learn skills and find satisfaction in your life.

An additional area of expertise is my experience as a litigation paralegal and certified mediator, offering cordial, solution-focused services in high-conflict situations, including divorce, business, estate, or family disputes, and an array of mental health crises.
When thinking about how to introduce myself, I invariably return to what I personally require when choosing a therapist – genuine commitment, personal sincerity and clinical expertise. I'm dedicated to the core belief that a good therapist is one who gently guides a client to uncover the emotional stumbling blocks causing anxiety, pain or inertia so they can move forward in their life. My therapeutic style exudes compassion, while equally engaging in honest, candid conversations to uncover the personal pain points, challenges, and stressors that ultimately brought the client to therapy.

Some of the modalities I pull from include Internal Family Systems, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Attachment-based, and I am trained in EMDR therapy.
Our lives are filled with so much unknown and mixed emotions. My goal is to help guide clients through this journey and get out of the feeling of being "stuck". I see all ages and have a passion for working with teens, young adults, and individuals struggling with anxiety, trauma, chronic illnesses, self-esteem, perfectionism, people pleasing, and/or relationship conflicts. I enjoy taking a collaborative and empathetic approach with my clients to best provide a safe and open space to explore whether it be their first time in therapy or visiting again.

I treat many issues including family of origin, addiction, primary mental health, couples, trauma, and more.
I believe the main goal of therapy is to remove the obstacles and blockages that preclude us from being genuine. My approach is straightforward yet compassionate. As your therapist, I simply hold the mirror up and allow you to reveal the parts of yourself that have broken off over the years as a result of stress, trauma, depression, anxiety, and other unresolved issues. Together we mitigate the impact of maladaptive behaviors and search for answers that are more closely aligned with your goals. The answers to many of life’s problems are internal, but we have been conditioned otherwise.

Did you know that a licensed marriage and family therapist in the state of California is only required to take one semester in graduate school on how to work with couples? This is absolutely not enough experience to offer couples meaningful change.
Want to be a power couple? I can show you how. In the past 10 years of my practice, I have seen many couples. I can’t say I’ve seen it all, but I have seen A LOT. Some fight explosively, triggered easily by a snide comment or an exaggerated exhale from their spouse. Others never fight but the distance between them is palpable minute they walk in the room and sit on opposite sides of my couch. However, one thing they all had in common is suffering due to a lack of connection and belonging. Humans are all wired for love and relationship, but unfortunately some never learn the skillsets necessary to be successful at partnership.

This is sometime referred to as the family life cycle.
Oftentimes people face issues which feel so overwhelming and whose consequences seem so far-reaching that the individual may not be able to access the internal strength to solve the problem on their own. In a sense, they may become trapped in what is known and familiar. A person may come to the conclusion that they are worthless, or that there is no hope, or become mired in a feeling of uselessness. These thoughts may come from familial, social or cultural experiences and can cause people to live a life where they feel out of place or unable to achieve to their fullest potential.

I welcome a wide range of challenges, some of which include identity formation, anxiety, depression, spiritual development, relational conflicts, and family transitions.
Relationships surround us - we are all in relationship with others and with ourselves. At times these relationships can be overwhelming; impacted by the tangible and intangible parts of living. Contact me, it's my honor to enter the sacred space that feels tender, unknown, disorganized, overwhelmed, and at times, even hopeless. My hope is to host a space where clients are freely able to share and explore their complexities in their unique experiences, values, and hopes.
