I help women in transition of career or family or life transitions such as going into recovery for dysfunction.
Sometimes ordinary psychotherapy just isn’t “it”. Most women entering my practice come due to persistent sexual and emotional problems that regular psychotherapy analyzed but did not effectively facilitate. Sometimes, “How does it make you feel?” Is too little and insufficient for change. You are left with an inventory of your issues and little change. You will likely find me quite different to the above. I don’t fit the mold because I studied to be the answer to the above in my practices.

I also integrate into my sessions family systems, grief work, somatic approaches, and creative arts.
Note: I am only accepting new clients for online therapy. Most of my clients come to me because they feel stuck in their lives. They may feel stuck in unfulfilling patterns, a trauma cycle, a sense of purposelessness, grief, depression or anxiety. They may be caught in an oppressive societal perspective of what it means to be “healthy.” In most cases, these symptoms are not enemies, but indicators that something new – a new perspective, a new story – is attempting to emerge, like a sapling pushing its way from beneath the ground.

I’m all about helping people heal from trauma, and I draw from a range of proven methods, including Somatic EMDR, Mindfulness, and Internal Family Systems.
Many people are suffering from anxiety and the effects of trauma in our times. You are not alone. You may constantly prioritize others' needs over your own, feeling emotionally exhausted and undervalued. Do you struggle to set boundaries and often find yourself in relationships where you feel invisible, taken for granted, or unable to express your true feelings? These patterns can leave you feeling disconnected from yourself, anxious, and unsure of your identity outside of your role in others' lives.

Working on yourself is not selfish, it affects your family, your community, and the wider world.
My clients like working with me because I'm very direct, engaged, and practical. I am not just here to agree with you or validate you (though I do that, too). I create a non-judgmental space filled with warmth, compassion, and humor...a safe harbor in the midst of the chaos of life.

The modalities I use are those which have created profound shifts within my own life: Attachment theory, Internal Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Somatic and Mindfulness practices .
My passion for supporting other people on their healing journey comes from walking my own path of complex trauma healing after growing up in an alcoholic home. Over twenty years ago I discovered yoga as a form of exercise, but it quickly became a powerful framework for somatic healing, which I shared with others as a yoga and Ayurveda instructor in Bali for over ten years. I enjoy weaving the cognitive and emotional modalities of western therapeutic practice with the somatic, energetic and spiritual healing wisdom of my extensive training in eastern traditions.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
