I also work with highly sensitive individuals looking to decrease anxiety symptoms and strengthen emotional resilience through boundary setting and assertive communication.
I work predominantly with first & second generation Asian-American millennials seeking help with perfectionism, people pleasing, career burnout, and challenging family dynamics. One of the most important things to know when you are struggling is that you are not alone. As a biracial (Chinese-Irish) therapist, I'm familiar with the nuances of overcoming current stressors while understanding the influence of cultural identity issues and intergenerational trauma.

I have advanced training in evidence-based, highly effective treatment of Depression, Insomnia, Anxiety, Habits/Addictions and Relationship Problems.
Are you suffering and struggling in the living nightmare of an anxiety problem? Perhaps you are avoiding people, places or activities because of fear, panic or obsessive worrying. Maybe you have been suffering from a lack of sleep and feeling stressed and tired most of the time. Sleep medications and advice from friends or the internet might just make the problems worse. Maybe you're stuck in the never-ending rut of a bad habit or addiction that you can't seem to stop turning to for relief from your problems. Maybe you're unsatisfied in your relationships, overwhelmed by conflicts and a lack of closeness with people you care about.

Is anxiety, depression, or another form of distress robbing you of everyday pleasures? Weighty feelings may have become intrusive, occupying too much of your mental space. Reaching out for support may not be easy. Your efforts demonstrate your hope and determination, both critical elements to feeling better. In therapy, you can embark on a journey not only to heal, but also to explore your potential and celebrate your life. Having an effective therapist greatly impacts the therapeutic process and outcome. Finding the right person is important. I hope to be that match for you.

I have experience working with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, self-esteem concerns, life adjustments and more.
Navigating life stressors can be overwhelming and difficult for children, adolescents and parents. Watching a child struggle with mental health concerns can be difficult to know where to get additional help, and know how to approach behaviors at home. My goal as a therapist is to create a safe place that will allow children and adolescents to feel comfortable to talk about what is bothering them and learn how to cope with their stressors, as well as help parents feel like they can understand their child in their individual needs.

Concerns I most often work with include anxiety ( panic, fears, phobias, general worries), sleep difficulties, dating concerns, social skills, depression, low self-esteem, and communication struggles.
Ineffective therapy can feel like an endless routine of talking without a plan for change. Are you ready to make true life changes, move beyond just talking and do the work that will help you move past your challenges? Together we can create change. First, we will take time to learn about your unique situation, complex identities, and life circumstances. Then, we will develop a plan. Next, you will learn a replicable process: identify achievable goals, overcome barriers to change, learn and master new skills. I believe you can learn the skills needed to overcome your challenges.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
