I also offer Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, movement and creative arts therapies for stress, trauma, anxiety and depression.
Making the choice to come to therapy requires an incredible amount of courage. From the first interaction I hope to convey my deep respect for choosing to look at the parts of ourselves that are not working. Exploring what has you stuck can seem daunting and frustrating. My viewpoint of clients, is that they are strong, capable and willing to engage with themselves from a perspective of learning and growth. Therapy allows for us to heal in the context of a relationship, allowing for the creation of new narratives about our ability to trust, connect, and give and receive care.

Would you like to figure out how to stop the vicious cycle of anxiety, stress, over thinking, worry and start to feel relaxed, calm and confident?.
Do you feel worried about living up to your greatest potential before turning 30-something because you're smart, educated, have friends and a career but most often you feel "not good enough," overwhelmed and unsure about managing all of this peak adulting? Do you tend to focus on a negative event such as a romantic rejection or a career upheaval and see yourself as a total failure? Would you like to stop comparing yourself to what you see on social media, stop feeling the stress headaches, tight muscles, scary panic attacks and start taking control of your life and feeling empowered with your personal and career goals?

I have had advanced training in couples counseling, marriage enrichment, parenting, intimacy issues and anxiety.
Is your relationship trapped in a pattern of anger, resentment and withdrawal? Are you tired of feeling like your worst version of yourself within your most precious relationship? There is a way out. Working together, we will uncover early painful experiences and the resulting coping behaviors that cause destruction in your relationships with others and with yourself. My hope is that our time together will restore you both to your best selves, allowing you and your partner come back to one another - not in the old way, but in a new way that offers long term connection and safety together.

Specializing in depression, anxiety, life transitions, and emotional dysregulation, I blend DBT/CBT and somatic practices in a trauma-informed framework.
Asking for support can be daunting. Therapy is a transformative process that invites you to uncover your strengths and embrace your journey. As a daughter of immigrants, my journey to becoming a therapist is shaped by cultural expectations and the silent stigma surrounding mental health in my community. This experience fuels my passion for supporting individuals navigating cultural identity and mental wellness intersections. Fluent in Spanish, I am dedicated to offering a culturally sensitive space.

"I am not what happened to me. I am what I choose to become." ~ Carl Jung. Do you feel overwhelmed, have pain, grief, anxiety, depression, or unseen shadows that prevent you from healing or from choosing better decisions, relationships, and allowing yourself to matter in your own life? My experience and education can help people hungering for more purpose, fulfillment, and nurturing relationships instead of dissonance, exhaustion, and sacrifice, those who know what you were aiming for, but discovered you’re at the top of the wrong ladder. If you feel like you’re different or unseen, then I may be the psychotherapist you’ve sought.

I assist anxious individuals in making peace with themselves and reduce the stress that comes from and fuel their self-criticizing thought patterns.
To an outsider, your life might look pretty good, but deep down inside you feel dissatisfied, disconnected, and unlovable. You give your all to others, and yet your own tank feels empty. You stay really busy (too busy!) to avoid feeling anything unpleasant and to distract from the self-doubting voices in your head. It's so difficult to get what you need when you feel like you don't even deserve it.

Do you feel stuck? Stuck in an unhealthy relationship? Stuck in the same emotional state - anxious, fearful, depressed, numb? Stuck in communication patterns that leave you feeling empty? You keep trying to feel or be something different but it just doesn't work? feeling stuck can be one of the most paralyzing states. As Sheryl Sandberg says, "We cannot change what we are not aware of, and once we are aware, we cannot help but change." With curiosity as our leader let's become aware of what we feel and why we feel it. By leaning in we can begin to move.

I have found that in addition to working beautifully for trauma, EMDR is incredibly effective for the treatment of anxiety, depression, self-esteem and other issues and can be a wonderful complement to traditional talk therapy.
Seeking the support of a therapist can be a powerful step toward increasing self-awareness and the ability to change patterns that are no longer working. Change in therapy happens through a process of increased self-understanding, practicing new ways of engaging (with yourself, with others, with a particular problem or set of issues), and development and practice of coping strategies. I collaborate with my clients to identify and work toward treatment goals, using a combination of practical skills and deeper work to explore and repair root issues that may be contributing to current problems.

As therapist, I’ve worked with teens, adults and couples struggling with anxiety, depression.
Life can be hard. Especially for teens, parents, and adults feeling overwhelmed & disconnected with the world around them. It’s common to struggle navigating the pressures of school, work, relationships and the endless list of expectations. Understandably, many learn to shut-down, avoid, get angry, or find various unhelpful means to escape. This can lead to intense feelings of regret, poor self-esteem, guilt, or shame. When left untreated, it can create long-term struggles such as depression, anxiety, addiction and relationship stress.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
