I specialize in the assessment and treatment of children, adolescents, and their families. I have 26+ years of experience in working with traumatized youth in a variety of setting such as Level 12 and 14 residential, hospitals, schools and outpatient settings. I believe that what kids need most is to heal within their families, and although will work with the child individually believe that family sessions are crucial is building attachments and healing past trauma.

Journeys Counseling provides professional psychotherapy, vibrant living coaching, and spiritual direction to the community. Our work is interdenominational, serving clients from many different backgrounds, including those who have little or no religious affiliation. As a Christian organization we believe counseling should address the whole person and be respectful of people’s faith. Individual’s beliefs are both an important part of their lives and a valuable resource when experiencing distress. Counseling should assist in developing those resources further. Often, people lack support systems that help deal with personal problems.

No one wakes up and feels badly about themselves or their situations – this occurs over time. This usually results from the messages that we received from unhealthy people around us, toxic environments, or unrealistic pressures from society. As men, the weight of these negative forces can be unbearable. And perhaps therapy is your 'last ditch effort' to gain understanding in who you are and what you want from life.

When life circumstances provoke fear, anger, sadness, or suffering, we have an opportunity to face these challenges and ultimately become even better versions of ourselves.

I believe the therapy process involves forming a relationship with someone who you can share with and trust. A third party who wont judge you, or share/gossip your most intimate secrets or life struggles with others. It's nice having friends and or family to share with, but that isn't always an option, nor is it always safe. I provide my clients with an environment free from judgement where you can let your guard down, vent, share and just be you. Therapy doesn't mean there's something wrong with you, it means you're ready to grow and better understand yourself, others and hopefully life. Isn't that what we're all striving for?
