Often individuals or couples will feel depressed or anxious and they are not able to pinpoint what is making them feel that way. Things might be status quo or there may be a turn in a relationship but feelings don't feel the same. This is when you want to figure out what is going on the inside and work on the unresolved issues.

Although I am not limited to a certain demographic, most of my experience is with clients battling depression, anxiety, transitions and life challenges.
Are you feeling overwhelmed, hopeless, anxiety ridden? I believe a healthy therapeutic experience can foster a genuine, honest and authentic relationship that can help us become aware of ourselves in the world, heal from our past, cope with our present, and foster a healthy future. My process is focused on helping you heal and learn more constructive ways to deal with stress and life challenges. I have an eclectic approach with each individual client based on your needs. Life presents us with many challenges and obstacles often leading to anxiety, depression, panic and loss of self. You do not have to battle this alone.

Nature itself places few limits on human potential; only past/present experience, anxiety and fear limit our ability to experience "real" life.
I have helped numerous patients in the past 25 years overcome major hurdles emotionally and spiritually, helping them discover for themselves who God has truly meant them to be. Living with depression, anxiety, fear, inhibitions, low-self esteem, relationship problems or the like -- your suffering should not be ignored. Life was not meant to be lived in part, but rather in fullness. My interest is in dealing with the deeper issues that underlie problems so that life can be lived in fullness rather than confusion, frustration and regret.

Expect something different with me. I'm creative, I'm straight forward, and I'm pretty sure I'll make you laugh. Who said therapy has to be scary or boring? I have worked in the psychiatric social work field for over 15 years in both England and the United States. I have worked with adults with a wide range of mental health difficulties. I have experience treating adults with anxiety, depression, trauma as well as other mood, psychotic, and substance abuse disorders. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to educate individuals on their symptoms, the roots of those symptoms and how to challenge, cope and work through them.

Rather than seeing the world through the eyes of excitement and joy, your child sees it through a lens of worry and uncertainty.
Seeing your child struggle with anxiety is such a helpless feeling. Your daughter is paralyzed with fear about what others may think of her, and nothing that you say can comfort her. Your son freezes on homework and tests, feeling that everything must be perfect, and you feel guilty, as you wonder if you've passed these anxious thoughts down to him. Sunday night comes and they're preoccupied with the thought of the impending school week, and no matter how rational you are with them, they can't shake the dread that comes with going to school.

Whether your child is suffering from anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), or any other mental health issues, feel free to contact me to schedule a free, 15-minute consultation.
As a mother of two children myself, I understand the barriers and fears that parents can face before, during, and after seeking treatment for their kids. Since my clients are primarily children, my philosophy is to work closely with their parents. I have learned that collaborating with the parents and the family as a whole can greatly improve a child’s quality of life.

If you are someone looking to deal with challenges related to anxiety, ADHD, substance use, traumatic experiences or want to work on parenting, relationships or family healing, I have specific training and expertise in these areas.
You might be looking for support to manage a challenge that has come your way. This is a wise and life affirming choice. I find that obstacles arise as a way of offering an invitation to develop as human beings. It definitely doesn’t look and feel that way at first, but, as we look back on experiences, we know this is so. Meeting that invitation head on by having the neutral and clear guidance of a trained third party can make all the difference.

I have years of experience in helping teens and adults find healing from their anxiety, burnout, or trauma.
Sometimes, life holds nothing back. We’re totally overwhelmed. It’s all too much. Too much busy-ness, too much hurry, and too much stress. While you’re a master of taking care of everything and everyone around you, taking care of YOU is often forgotten. And your regular pattern of “go, go, go…” leads to anxiety, burnout, or trauma. And so, you’re just…exhausted. You know something has to change. You know life has more to offer. But you’re not sure where to start.

Do you believe that there is power in connection? That the healthier we are as individuals, the healthier our relationships are? I believe that it is through connection that we can heal. We must first be able to create a healthy connection with the self to be in healthy contact with others. However, oftentimes challenges such as life transitions, parenting, school, career, anxiety, depression, trauma, and loss may inhibit us from connecting with the self and others.

I treat a broad range of issues including body image/eating disorders, anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship problems, and transitional issues.
Beginning therapy can be a scary and intimidating process, one that comes with many questions: Who should I work with? How does therapy work? What can I expect to get from therapy? Will it be useful for me? Therapy is an investment in yourself. It can deepen your self-awareness and lead to long-term change in your life.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
