In need of sex therapy? Lack of desire? A sex-starved marriage? Sex/porn addiction? Just not on the same page as your partner? As a Sexuality Specialist and CSAT, I have successfully treated clients struggling with many different sexual problems (Men: erectile dysfunction, rapid/premature/delayed ejaculation. Women: low desire, painful intercourse, vaginismus/vulvadynia. Either: sexual inexperience, sexual anorexia, childhood sexual traumas including incest). I often use EMDR to resolve underlying traumas. I have researched and taught at UCLA, SMC, The University of Chicago, DePaul and have been a sexuality expert on NBC, ABC and KCAL 9 news.

Our gentle, accelerated cutting edge tools--EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, Mindfulness and Attachment Repair--do just that.
We’re finding ourselves living in a new post-pandemic world. We’ve changed and the culture has changed. We’re trying to hold it together when the nature of things is to fall apart. The big questions arise: Who am I now? What matters to me? How do I enliven myself? We are all grieving, mourning lost friends, past relationships, illusions of safety, control and predictability, opportunities gone that will never return. Are you sadder? Sadder and wiser but more adrift? Are past traumas holding you back? Right now is the time to get more support as you grapple your life's meaning and purpose and move forward with greater self-compassion

We can also work on healing emotional wounds that may be keeping you stuck from moving forward. I will empower your journey as you cultivate better relationships, foster a happier sense of self and learn to embrace all aspects of your identity.

I am EMDR- trained and IFS-informed and approach my clients from a trauma-informed lens.
You are highly insightful and perceptive but find yourself trapped in a cycle of overthinking, self-criticism, or placing the needs of others above your own. Unable to shake the feeling that something is inherently wrong with you or that certain parts of you are unacceptable, you try to numb away this feeling, which might manifest in tendencies such as workaholism, incessantly consuming self-help content, or entering into unhealthy but addictive relationships. You're seeking healing that is in-depth and lasting.

I utilize various evidence-based practices including DBT, CBT, solution-focused, polyvagel theory, EMDR, and IFS to help clients gain awareness of what is happening in their inner world and learn ways to let go of the past.
Do you find yourself feeling anxious, depressed, angry, and overwhelmed? Do you continue to repeat the same patterns of being in unhealthy relationships, engaging in harmful behaviors that are not serving you in a good way, and continuously trying to find a way to numb the pain? I am a process-oriented and trauma-informed therapist who meets clients where they are at. I draw from the psychodynamic approach focusing on bringing the unconscious to the conscious to get to the root of the issue and explore defense mechanisms that have been adapted along the way.

I graduated from CSPP in San Francisco and have advanced training in Addiction (including Adult Children of Alcoholics and Co-Dependency) and Trauma (including EMDR and EFT).
Congratulations on taking the first step toward a deeper self awareness! I work with my clients to help them understand how personal challenges like anxiety, depression, addiction or trauma may be influencing their relationships, work, or daily life. My style is interactive, engaged, and non-judgmental while integrating the psychological, emotional, physical and spiritual well being of the whole person. I also feel that it is important to incorporate laughter into the healing process! Once we can find the humor in our human-ness it becomes easier to forgive ourselves and others as we move toward more authentic happiness.

We can work together to cultivate trauma recovery using techniques including EMDR, polyvagal theory, meditation, somatic psychology, and CBT.
Are you experiencing traumatic burnout? You're aware of your trauma history, coping with symptoms of depression, anxiety or PTSD, and finding it difficult to perform at the same level. A strong drive is correlated with a nervous system that was forged in a childhood of trauma. Seeking stimulus may serve you in your professional life while it simultaneously hinders you in your personal life. I provide deep witnessing as you move through crisis, and don't shy away from intensity. Pairing that with research-based interventions to rewire and shift the nervous system will empower you to move from a place of pain into one of purpose.

We might work well together if you: are a young professional; a perfectionist; struggle with burnout and prioritizing yourself; have experienced trauma. If you're walking through a faith transition or struggling to reconcile your faith with your LGBTQ+ identity, I'm here to help you navigate that. I also know the importance of going back to the body and emotions. Staying in your intellect probably hasn't healed your trauma (although it's certainly kept you safe), so why not change the channel? As a Certified EMDR Therapist and Consultant in Training, I'm very comfortable helping you figure out which channel has the best service.

I use a combination of insight oriented talk therapy, parts work, and EMDR therapy to support you in making lasting change.
Being a people-pleaser is like juggling a million expectations—both real and imagined. You’re always worried about keeping up appearances, pleasing everyone around you, and avoiding any kind of conflict, even if it means sacrificing your own needs or desires. The pressure to keep everyone happy can leave you feeling drained and disconnected from your true self. You get stuck in a cycle of seeking validation, only to end up feeling more lost and unfulfilled. It doesn’t have to be like this. Living with authenticity is within your reach!

Through a holistic exploration of the diverse identities we hold, the systems we are a part of, and a culturally sensitive trauma-informed approach with fitting evidence-based practices (CBT, DBT, Mindfulness, EMDR) you can lead an empowering healing journey.
Does life feel difficult? Do you often feel like you’re on your own? Do you wonder if there is more to life than hardship? I’ve felt and asked myself these same things. Therapy has been my companion through healing of childhood wounds, heart aches, life transitions, and self-finding. And it can be yours too. Additionally, therapy has provided me with a safe and liberating space where I can think, feel, and be myself all at once. And it can do the same for you.

I provide EMDR for trauma and talk therapy for individuation.
Often in my practice I work with creative, put-together people, but, despite appearances, inside they feel disconnected from themselves and others. Many times these feelings are a response to experiencing trauma. We tend to think traumatic events only include extreme experiences, but trauma can also occur through nuanced events that break our trust in others, ourselves and the world. This can program the brain and nervous system to be highly sensitive to shame, rejection and fear. BUT, through reparative experiences like therapy, neuroscience has shown that the human brain can rewire itself to new ways of thinking and responding.

I have been trained in EMDR with the Institute for Creative Mindfulness also and hold a state certification as a domestic violence and sexual assault emergency services counselor advocate.
Have you ever felt alone in a crowd, hoping to feel recognized and comforted by a familiar stranger, or clung desperately to the last beat of a song as you drove through the darkest parts of the night, unsure of your next destination? It is this feeling of searching for a sense of home, connection, and joy that fuels my passion for studying the science and the art of psychology and deeply informs my therapeutic style.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
