I integrate interventions from internal family systems, somatics, narrative therapy, emotionally focused therapy, and offer the use of dialectical behavior therapy skills.
I specialize in working with individuals, couples, and families. My work relies on a strong and supportive therapeutic relationship wherein profound exploration and sustained healing takes place. My primary goal is to support you in living the life you want to live, which means I practice deep intuitive listening, I offer calm presence, and I support your growth by understanding your values and motivation. I have been licensed since 2014 and I have felt honored to be alongside every individual I have supported. I understand that the process of deepening relationship with Self in order to make change takes courage and vulnerability.

I use Emotionally Focused Therapy ( EFT) with couples and somatic interventions from TRM.
Do you take care of other people's needs so no one gets upset, but also feel burned out? Maybe you struggle to be your authentic self with your partner? Do you want to feel more connected to your kids or spouse and stop repeating old patterns? Maybe you're worrying about what others think of you, wanting a career change, getting engaged or experiencing a loss. Life keeps moving and you're unsure of which decision to make. Let's connect. I work with couples, new parents, women's health, creative professionals, career transitioners, and people interested in exploring their body image and sexual intimacy in a non-judgemental space.

You put up a good front but on the inside you feel like you're falling apart. You're reactive, disengaged and spiraling in your head. You've tried on your own but you need more support and that's okay. We aren't meant to bear things alone. Let me come along aside you as you work through your current stressors, heal from past traumas, explore your family of origin and address any attachment wounds. I know therapy can seem intimidating, especially if you have dismissive parents, internalized shame/guilt or feel like an invisible minority, but sometimes the healing process starts by showing up and investing in yourself.

My goal is to guide people restore their self-esteem as a competent individual, build a healthy relationship with others, especially with their spouse and children, and promote lasting change that brings them to feel loved, capable, and alive. It may be a long journey, but by the end of the journey I have seen people moving away from unhealthy vicious cycle of the past and creating more desirable relationships with each other.

I enjoy working with clients who want to do in-depth work exploring root causes and heal from deep pain. Often many don’t realize what they have experienced is valid, significant, and worth exploring. It could be something buried or brushed off from your childhood, close relationships, a recent stressor. Over time, things l eft unresolved and carried with us can resurface, impact relationships with ourselves and others, and become harder to avoid. It's hard holding it all together and it’s okay if can't anymore. You don’t have to do it alone.

Feelings, feelings, feelings. They can be complex painful, rewarding, and sometimes, confusing. Sometimes those feelings and emotions consume us, other times we avoid them either way; they affect us. In this space, I hope to help guide your understanding of what you are experiencing. To acknowledge triggers, and normalize some of your behaviors without excusing them. In all, my goal as a therapist is to create an environment where you feel listened too and important .

Emotionally Focused Therapists

Who is emotionally focused therapy for?

Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) is for couples who are emotionally distressed, stuck in an unsatisfying relationship pattern or feeling deeply alienated. They may even believe the relationship is beyond repair. Very often, the partners display intense anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal in the relationship. In addition, EFT is helpful to couples and individuals who have difficulty expressing emotions and those who have trouble regulating emotions.

Why do people need emotionally focused therapy?

People need emotionally focused therapy because the need for others is built into the brain, but the pressures of daily life can erode feelings of love, and couples often do not have the skills to find their way back to the comfort of each other. Instead, they may be stuck in repetitive patterns of anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal. Emotionally focused therapy regards such strong negative feelings as expressions of protest over the loss of connection and turns them into pathways of reconnection.

What happens in emotionally focused therapy?

Over the course of eight to 20 weekly sessions, couples de-escalate their negative emotional reactivity to one another so that they can listen to each other and be responsive to each other’s needs. Then the deep emotional and physical bond is restored, giving partners a sense of comfort and security, which they can use to solve whatever problems come their way. The therapist plays an active role, helping partners understand how anger and withdrawal are actually misguided cries for connection.

What problems does emotionally focused therapy treat?

EFT is designed to help couples stuck in dysfunctional relationship patterns regain closeness and rebuild their relationship. Typically, such couples experience considerable distress, with partners feeling alienated and distrustful of one another, not certain their relationship can survive. EFT is also helpful to individuals experiencing attachment-related fears of loss; it helps them learn to use their fears as a way of eliciting the closeness they desire.
