For clients who are experiencing pain during sex, struggling to feel safe in their identity, or just want to talk about depression with a therapist who gets their D/s dynamic, I'm here to support. Additionally, as a therapist with ADHD, I have a lot of experience addressing the needs of neurodivergents. Let's work together to create a pathway to full self-expression and passionate living.

I consider it a great privilege to be part of someone's healing. be invited into some of people's most difficult moments, and create a space where they are free to be wholly human. I provide trauma-informed, Strength-based, culturally competent, and socially conscious therapy through a social justice framework. I believe the personal is political, and therefore, believe that therapy is inherently apolitical. I have a down to earth style in sessions and have had experience working in both a school-based and private practice setting with adolescents, adults, and couples.

I am a Marriage, family, child therapist and have a PsyD in psychoanalysis. I have been in practice for 30+ years. Although I am well versed and trained in many techniques, including short term behavioral oriented ones, my orientation always leads me to a psychodynamic lens. By this I mean that I will always use the context, both current and historical, including family of origin, to inform the work and deepen my understanding of anyone I embark on a path of working in partnership with toward the general goals of reducing pain, increasing joy and broadening one's life choices.

Choosing to engage in therapy and journey toward optimal health can be a daunting process. I believe that taking this step and embarking on a path toward health is an opportunity and every individual has the power and capacity to transform. My approach is empathetic and non-judgmental aimed at creating a space that is safe, supportive and comfortable. My therapeutic framework draws from a psychodynamic approach and I utilize the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model in order to help client's harmonize their own internal systems so they are better equipped to face challenges and experience each day from a place of well being.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
