I have trained in a variety of somatic (body-based) approaches such as EMDR that can help you uncover the root of your difficulties so you can finally move forward with confidence.
I believe that underneath all of our challenges is fear. Oftentimes, these fears are unconscious, yet they continue to rule our lives. I've seen time and time again how much these fears can hold people back from living fulfilling, authentic lives, where they are finally doing what they want to do and saying what they really want to say. From my advanced training working with trauma and PTSD, I have learned that working with the subconscious fears that live in the body is imperative for healing.

I am trained in Gestalt, EMDR, and Brainspotting, and frequently utilize parts work in sessions.
I often work with clients who struggle with never feeling good enough. This would surprise people around you as there's a good chance you've found success in life. You excelled academically, have advanced your career, and appear confident to others, but internally you feel different. The drive to perform has been an attempt to finally feel like you are enough. I can help you begin to look at how these patterns were at one time protective, but may no longer fit in your life. We will work together to heal the underlying wounds these patterns are protecting.

If you are a person of color (POC), in the LGBTQ community, and/or are non-monogamous/poly, you’ve come to the right place. I’ve had the privilege of working with diverse populations for over 15 years. In working with a culturally competent therapist like me, you can focus on what brought you to therapy in the first place and not on explaining or “teaching” the nuances of your culture and sexuality. My expertise is in helping those who are struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship difficulties. I’m trained in EMDR, an evidence-based therapy that treats trauma and other difficulties.

I also use EMDR for specific cases of Trauma.
I believe the process of change through therapy should not only involve self-understanding and insight into the past, but beyond that it should also focus on helping clients to learn skills for present-time challenges. Therefore my approach helps clients to develop specific skills for thinking and acting in constructive ways. I am a proponent of therapist actively collaborating with a client to help him/her find ways to manage life better.

I am EMDR Certified, and have additional training in Family Systems, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction.
My approach to therapy is rooted in a belief that change is possible. Most of my clients come to me because something in their lives isn't working. Whether the problem is familial, romantic, professional, emotional, or even existential, I find it usually comes down to a matter of relationship. How are we relating to the things that cause us to suffer? When we understand these relationships and the parts we play in them, we are free to make different choices, and to experience our lives, ourselves, and our loves in richer, more fulfilling ways.

I’m a warm and direct therapist who uses EMDR, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy, Internal Family Systems, Gottman Method and a touch of humor in my work with individuals, couples and families.
You've probably read a bunch of these by now and it's getting hard to distinguish one therapist from another. Therapy is awesome so keep pushing through. You can sum up the heart of my practice in three words: relationships, trauma and anxiety. I help people who are grieving, ruminating, traumatized, flooded, distant, people pleasing, and at crossroads in their lives and relationships. You want to get resolution and live a happier, more peaceful life, but you haven't figured out how. Therapy ignites your inner healing intelligence and gives you the tools to move through life with strength, courage and optimism.

Using a combination of Brainspotting, EMDR, psychodynamic therapy, somatic therapy and mindfulness, we will work together to ensure a return to the level of functioning that you want.
What do you want? Do you know? If you know, are you able to attain it? Do you struggle with relationships or the ability to make your life as way you want it? Successful living means functioning well in love and work. Irritability, rigidity, anxiety, addiction, lethargy, depression, self-doubt, self-attack: these are all symptoms that sap us of our right to act with the freedom we wish and the ability to engage emotionally with others, our work and ourselves.

We might work well together if you: are a young professional; a perfectionist; struggle with burnout and prioritizing yourself; have experienced trauma. If you're walking through a faith transition or struggling to reconcile your faith with your LGBTQ+ identity, I'm here to help you navigate that. I also know the importance of going back to the body and emotions. Staying in your intellect probably hasn't healed your trauma (although it's certainly kept you safe), so why not change the channel? As a Certified EMDR Therapist and Consultant in Training, I'm very comfortable helping you figure out which channel has the best service.

With practice in many areas - MBA with corporate experience, Masters in Landscape Architecture, EMDR treatment for trauma, Registered Art Therapist, licensure as a Marital and Family Therapist, I am able to understand where most people come from and how to go about helping you find your way towards a healthy mental state.
I help clients find paths that nurture and grow parts of the self that can enhance one’s experience of life to be fulfilling and whole. People come to me wanting to find out why their life is not satisfying and what could be done to work towards that goal. Often times they are stuck in life situations that block creativity and paths to self defined success. Goals often include happiness, pain relief (physical, mental, spiritual, emotional), self-awareness, productivity, insight, improved socialization, healthy relationships (or finding one), meaning, and contentment with life.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
