Through our work, you’ll understand why what you’ve been doing isn’t working anymore (or maybe never was) and learn a new approach to building a healthier relationship with yourself.
You’re stuck, exhausted and close to burn-out. What you wouldn’t give for a week off with nothing to do but lay in bed and binge your favorite shows. And yet, even that might not solve everything that’s been getting you down. Your lack of purpose and a sense of hopelessness are compounding and you’re afraid these feelings won’t end.

Thank you for reviewing my profile. I work with individuals (adolescents and adults), couples, and families suffering from anxiety, depression, trauma, abuse, and relational difficulties. I specialize in working with conditions associated with anxiety such as generalized anxiety (GAD), eating disorders (ED), OCD, and panic disorder. My doctoral research reviewed the neurobiological underpinnings of these conditions and how safety through relational attunement may help with anxiety symptoms. I hope to be able to help in any way possible or provide resources for help to be discovered.

Stepping into therapy can be an empowering step towards healing and growth. Many individuals seek therapy for a variety of reasons, such as depression, anxiety, phobias, relationship issues, and a lack of meaning in their lives. If you are driven to grow, develop, and explore your own path in life, then psychotherapy can be a powerful tool to help you live with higher levels of awareness and consciousness. I do integrate BrainSpotting and EMDR to help access parts of the brain that are difficult to reach through conventional therapy methods, allowing allowing for deeper healing and transformation in just a few sessions,

I work with adults, adolescents, and children struggling with anxiety, depression, perfectionism, self-esteem/body image, trauma, substance use, and relationship difficulties.
Therapy can be daunting for some and feel like home for others. My goal of working with you is to meet you where you are at, and foster an environment of warmth, safety, and understanding that enables us to grow together. I understand that life can feel overwhelming, challenging, and leave us feeling like we don’t know where to turn next. Through compassion, and authenticity, I encourage you to explore what gets us “stuck”, and the barriers that prevent us from healing.

I have a special interest in working with couples and families and in doing Dream Work with my individual clients. Much of the therapeutic work I do is based on the theories of Carl Jung, Joseph Campbell, & James Hillman. However, I do balance my practice using other therapeutic techniques from other theorists as well. It is not so important for me to apply a certain theory or my own beliefs on a client but instead it is my intention to really understand my clients' own personal beliefs and expectations of therapy. Let's go on an exploration that will lead to lasting and tangible positive change. It takes a lot of courage to do this, but it is often in the discomfort that we grow. I encourage you to call me for a free consultation and ask any questions you have about myself or therapy. I will want to know about your goals and what you are hoping for in a therapeutic relationship. My approach is eclectic, highlighted by depth psychology and systems thinking. I believe in a holistic and non-linear view of life that endorses compassion, curiosity, and also getting out of our comfort zones. Once there is trust between us, I will lovingly push you.

Our capacity to connect, both with ourselves (i.e. our passions, feelings, and body) and with others, is crucial to our feelings of well-being. When we connect, we generally feel a sense of aliveness in ourselves and the world. When we can't connect, we feel anxious, isolated, empty, or depressed. I feel my job is to help clients to more fully connect to the range of their experiences. I help adults, adolescents, and couples explore why they lose connection. I help them identify, understand, and overcome the deep root of their disconnection. I help them find well-being, which gives me great joy.

I lovingly invite: Couples that argue and have unresolved pain.
Behind each difficult emotion, lies a valuable lesson. To get through life's obstacles, we need connection, compassion and acceptance. I offer a non judgmental look into how you came to be, so that feelings can be felt and not shut out. By inviting these feelings in and processing them together, we challenge our avoidance/fear so you be seen right where you are at. This compassionate approach rebuilds the relationship with yourself and gets to the root of change. Change does not come from saying "this is where I want to be and I'm not there now." It happens when we start to understand the purpose a behavior/feeling serves for us.

Thank you for reviewing my profile. I work with individuals (adolescents and adults), couples, and families and have experience treating issues ranging from ADHD to occupational difficulties. I work especially with anxiety in all its forms, depression, and relationship challenges. My research has focused on attachment and social cognition, specifically in relation to anxiety, depression, and personality disorders. I have found that the therapeutic relationship, with its strong bond between the patient and an attuned therapist, is the most consistent and powerful mechanism of change.

I have experience working with couples navigating neurodivergence, as well as with couples who are queer and/or gender expansive.
My work often centers around folks who are experiencing grief or loss, healing from trauma, navigating life transitions, or experiencing relational challenges. My areas of specialty are neurodivergence (autism, ADHD, etc.), gender exploration, and BPD. I also support folks who are dealing with overwhelming anxiety, depression, dissociation, or cPTSD. I am queer-affirming and trans-affirming. I also have familiarity with spiritual and religious trauma. I bring an anti-oppressive, postmodern, and trauma-informed framework into my work. I support individual adults, kids, families, and couples.

Choosing new possibilities is a courageous act. If you’ve found your way here, you may be feeling deep sadness, loneliness, anxiety, a sense of frustration or just simply exhausted. Perhaps you're curious to discover and create a new relationship with yourself, your partner(s), or the work that you do in the world. When it comes to sexuality, love, or our work, many of us are carrying around old stories, misinformation, and the pain of difficult experiences that we want to be free of. If you are wrestling with love/sexuality or feeling drained by work that once felt exciting and no longer does, I can help.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
