I offer a warm and insight-focused approach to support individuals and couples along the path of exploration, reflection, and healing. I work with clients who are in a moment of transition and would like to move forward authentically; individuals and couples who are navigating the perinatal or postpartum period; and individuals experiencing grief and loss.

Some of my favorite modalities and theories include ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), EFT ( Emotionally Focused Therapy), attachment theory, and mindfulness.
Welcome, I'm glad you're here. I specialize in working with anxiety, relationship issues, and couples. If you're here because you feel anxious, I'd like to name that there's plenty to be anxious about in the modern world! I focus on helping you develop skills to regulate when anxiety feels overwhelming, and on parsing out what's in or out of our control. If you're in a relationship, maybe you're tired of getting stuck in what feels like the same fight again and again. Using EFT, I love helping couples understand each other on a deeper level, and break out of feeling stuck.

As a therapist, I call upon a variety of practices to nurture each individual’s or couple’s personal process. With a background in movement, music, art and drama, I approach therapy as a creative pursuit rooted in clinical analysis. I have a trauma-informed approach, allowing space for the many layers of stress that our culture can bring about in an individual or within a couple. I draw on traditional psychodynamic, Gestalt, Emotionally Focused Couples therapy, and relational methodologies, while incorporating eastern philosophies, symbolism, somatics, and creative or spiritual practices.

Childhood trauma can cripple us, it creates overpowering ‘intense’ emotions such as anxiety, depression, and anger when l eft unattended which begins to create physical symptoms to defend our bodies from the internal wounds. Has there ever been a time in your life where you have experienced this reaction? Are you experiencing these feelings based on current or past trauma from childhood, early teens, adolescence, adulthood, or as a senior? I aim to utilize a variety of actionable techniques to help reduce trauma-related symptoms and make lasting changes in life.

Therapy is about exploring, experimenting, discovering, and being vulnerable. In our therapy together you will learn to increase self-compassion and mindfulness, and your ability to sit with uncertainty and bear witness to uncomfortable feelings and body sensations. You will gain awareness of the role negative core beliefs and thoughts have upon mood and learn how to challenge those negative thought patterns. You will learn to set appropriate boundaries by asserting feelings, recognizing wants and needs, and identifying the role shame and guilt might play in causing unhealthy, harmful, stale, and inauthentic behaviors.

Welcome! My task as your therapist is to first provide a space where you’ll feel free to talk openly and be your truest self. Then, together, we will get to the bottom of whatever it is that may be contributing to the way you're feeling, and collaborate on ways you can begin to feel more at ease, empowered, and in alignment with your personal values, goals, and unique identity. I believe that we all hold the ability to manage life's challenges. To do this, we sometimes need a supportive guide. Enter therapy.

Have you found traditional talk therapy has helped reduce your symptoms, yet you find yourself desiring a deeper, more embodied transformation? I offer trauma-informed somatic therapy, which can create deep structural change that is difficult to access through talk therapy alone. These body-based approaches allow you to reach parts of the brain that language can’t access, rewiring deeply held patterns, attachment, and emotional wounding. I specialize in working with people experiencing chronic illness & pain (autoimmune, chronic pain, gut, hormone, etc.), spiritual crisis, and relational healing.

Victims of emotional abuse may feel like they have completely lost themselves. When you experience psychological abuse, there are severe ramifications that impact your ability to function holistically in your life. To make matters worse, emotional abuse is often invisible to others. Your partner may behave differently in front your friends and family, but behind closed doors they are bullies and tyrants. As the confusion and disorientation of this experience sets in, you may feel alone, hopeless, and ashamed. You may start to distrust your own healthy instincts and blame yourself for their abuse.

"Opportunities to find deeper power within ourselves comes when life seems most challenging". (Joseph Campbell) Our first reaction to pain is often to try to ignore or avoid it. Therapy is a place to gain understanding and undergo transformation in a safe and supportive environment.

We all desire belonging and connection, but relationships can be hard! Many of us grow up without role models for the type of intimacy we desire. Whether working individually or with relationships, I hope to work as a guide and collaborator, assisting you in building stronger connections with yourself and those around you. Many of us move through life feeling stuck in roles we’ve been assigned and in stories that we’ve long outgrown. Our work in therapy is to shift your perspective, allowing for a much more nuanced, self-compassionate and true view of who you are and who you’d like to be.

You're good at masking but inside you feel alone and overwhelmed. Asking for help wasn’t a safe option in the past so now you can’t help but feel like a burden when you need support. And sometimes it feels like your relationships are surface level or one-sided. Please know that you’re not alone! People who experienced chaotic or unstable childhoods often feel this way, and it is possible to heal and live the fulfilling life that you deserve. It may feel out of reach but you can grow the ability to set and maintain healthy boundaries, identify and communicate your needs, and even find compassion and acceptance for yourself.

Emotionally Focused Therapists

Who is emotionally focused therapy for?

Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) is for couples who are emotionally distressed, stuck in an unsatisfying relationship pattern or feeling deeply alienated. They may even believe the relationship is beyond repair. Very often, the partners display intense anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal in the relationship. In addition, EFT is helpful to couples and individuals who have difficulty expressing emotions and those who have trouble regulating emotions.

Why do people need emotionally focused therapy?

People need emotionally focused therapy because the need for others is built into the brain, but the pressures of daily life can erode feelings of love, and couples often do not have the skills to find their way back to the comfort of each other. Instead, they may be stuck in repetitive patterns of anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal. Emotionally focused therapy regards such strong negative feelings as expressions of protest over the loss of connection and turns them into pathways of reconnection.

What happens in emotionally focused therapy?

Over the course of eight to 20 weekly sessions, couples de-escalate their negative emotional reactivity to one another so that they can listen to each other and be responsive to each other’s needs. Then the deep emotional and physical bond is restored, giving partners a sense of comfort and security, which they can use to solve whatever problems come their way. The therapist plays an active role, helping partners understand how anger and withdrawal are actually misguided cries for connection.

What problems does emotionally focused therapy treat?

EFT is designed to help couples stuck in dysfunctional relationship patterns regain closeness and rebuild their relationship. Typically, such couples experience considerable distress, with partners feeling alienated and distrustful of one another, not certain their relationship can survive. EFT is also helpful to individuals experiencing attachment-related fears of loss; it helps them learn to use their fears as a way of eliciting the closeness they desire.
