Using the most effective interventions, such as EMDR, MINDFULNESS and SOMATIC EXPERIENCING, we can gently renegotiate your difficult moods, habits and memories.
BOOK AN ONLINE SESSION TODAY! - Do LOVE and HAPPINESS elude you? Are you FEELING DOWN and blue or ON EDGE and irritable? Did something harmful, hurtful, or devastating happen long ago that still haunts and negatively influences you today? If you have the need to talk to someone in a safe, secure, confidential environment, I can help. Childhood experiences, traumatic events, and family issues often stay with us throughout our lives. These can affect our moods and views of the world and may show up as anxiety, depression and even PTSD symptoms – sleepless nights, constant worrying, and a sense of emptiness are not uncommon.

I use EMDR and CPT to treat trauma.
The problem is never really the problem. Conflict is a normal part of life. Problems arise when we cope with conflict by shutting down or becoming enraged on one extreme, or feeling that we "should" be a party to our own abuse on the other. Whether you are looking for individual or couples therapy, you are probably looking to get to the heart of the problem quickly to avoid spending any more time in the current uncomfortable situation. I believe therapy should be affordable and based on the most effective modalities available.

I integrate mindfulness and an Eye Movement Desensitization Approach (EMDR), along with Cognitive Behavioral Theory and several other approaches to help you develop a stronger relationship with yourself.
Do you feel anxious, worried, or depressed and overwhelmed with your life? Are you struggling to feel happy? Do you feel past trauma is affecting your ability to heal? Is it hard to be kind to yourself or to tell yourself that you are doing all that you can? Together, we can build a safe place so that we can find what's not working for you and get you back to a place where your mind, body, and spirit feel at ease. We'll use a mindfulness approach and identify those negative thoughts and come up with a balanced adaptive thought that can help you feel better.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
