I have a great deal of experience working with couples on a variety of topics: codependency, infidelity, communication and blended family issues amongst other concerns.
I take a personal, relatable approach to working with all of my clients. I sincerely care about helping my clients gain clarity and insight while progressing towards developing the skills necessary to independently problem solve in the future. I do feel that we sometimes need to look backwards and work through past issues in order to lay a better foundation for the present. I will always seek to speak the truth with grace, even though it may be difficult to hear, in order to ensure that my clients have the information they need to make the best decisions for their situation.

I also support people undergoing the immense transition of starting a family.
Through conversation and collaboration, I aim to help clients explore new possibilities on how they might understand and contend with the issues they bring to therapy. My approach is non-pathologizing, in other words, I see my clients as more than and separate from the problems they encounter—I see them as worthy, knowledgeable, and dignified people desiring a better way. Overall, my experiences have been working with children and families who have undergone many losses, child abuse, grief issues, separation, depressive symptoms, PTSD, family and relationship issues, domestic violence, substance use/abuse, involvement with court and government agencies and changes of life.
Bi-lingual: Korean-American Marriage and Family Therapist in Los Angeles County - Just minutes from Koreatown and Hancock Park area.
Although looking in the mirror may not seem so difficult, looking beyond what is on the surface and into our souls - it can be. What everyone sees on the outside may not be how it feels inside. What seems small to others may be life changing for you.
How do you cope with what life brings to you? How is it working for you?

I'm a psychotherapist working with individuals, couples and families in the LA area and Sandpoint, Idaho. 25 years experience in one location and challenge the problems facing our complex and diverse society today. I believe in the Unity of Life. From the earliest single cell forms of life, to the complex human organism, there is a basic energetic function that unites: Pain & Pleasure, Thinking & Emotion, Mind & Body, Man & Women, Family & Society. When this unitary function is disrupted and blocked, healthy life suffers. Conflict and stress from this unitary disruption often results in irrationality, unhappiness and/or disease.

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
