I use a combination of talk therapy, EMDR, mindful self-compassion, and tapping ( EFT), depending on my client's individual needs.
You might be going through a difficult life transition, experiencing relationship problems, or feeling overwhelmed and unable manage your stress. Therapy is a wonderful opportunity to work with someone who will provide you with the support and tools you need to create change, feeling more insightful, aware, and grounded. I have extensive experience helping individuals and couples work on finding/maintaining healthy, satisfying relationships. I aid my clients in recognizing the way their past experiences, neurotypes, and relationships shape the way they see themselves, affect their emotional well-being, and how they relate to others.

Relational Therapy - We use Emotionally Focused Therapy techniques to facilitate mutually validating communication.
Sometimes therapy can feel a little too formal, I value candid communication, please come as you are. Whether it’s grieving a loss, sharing a trauma, opening up about intimacy, or breaking relational cycles, they’re part of your life and you deserve to share how you’ve experienced them. You are multifaceted and unique, I want to ensure your therapy experience is too. I am social justice oriented, culturally competent, trauma-informed therapist who curates personalized care by utilizing a collaborative and directive approach. Connection is transformative, beautiful, and valuable.

To support my work with couples, I have advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy.
I believe the most effective therapy begins in a trusting and judgment-free zone — a space where you feel safe being honest with yourself about your values, needs, and desires. Together we will explore your struggles, fears, and feelings of being "stuck." I am here to help you discover alternative ways of existing that feel in alignment to your true Self, whether this looks like improving your relationships, increasing intimacy, developing better communication skills, or setting healthy boundaries. You are not alone in this process. Together, we can identify how to use your uniqueness and strengths to achieve your goals.

I draw from theories including EMDR, CBT, ACT, psychodynamic, EFT and Gottman (for couples) to heal issues stemming from depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction, relational conflicts, stress, and existential unease.
You are fed up with repeating patterns that feel self-destructive. You are tired of being so reactive to the same triggers. You are ready for change, for relationships that fill your cup, and for a life that is purposeful and passionate. And you are probably totally overwhelmed right now. I get it. Wading through pages of therapist bios when you're already stressed, sad, and/or confused can be kind of the worst thing ever. But I'm here to help! I support clients who struggle with anxiety, depression, trauma-related symptoms, relationship issues, low self-esteem, stress and lack of clarity that big life transitions can kick up.

I value helping to foster a secure space and use an integrative approach to help clients feel empowered to reach their personal goals. Intersectionality has been paramount on my own personal healing journey and I have had the opportunity to work with clients who benefit from the same lens. I draw from an integration of approaches to include the internal family systems model, emotionally focused therapy, and psychoanalytic theory in order to work with and honor a wide range of identities and experiences.

You may have asked yourself, "Why do I keep making the same mistakes again and again?" By looking at both your present state and personal history, we can find out together. We will work to bring the unconscious into the conscious mind to help you get out of your own way, and get the things that you want and deserve. Serenity, Equanimity, Peace of Mind. Are these qualities sorely missing from your life? You are not alone. Most Westerners experience rushed living, lack of acceptance, anxious and depressed mood - what inevitably amounts to suffering. While pain is a universal experience, with practice suffering can become optional. But lack of skill, low motivation, and general haggardness of life prevent many from consistent self-care which can alleviate suffering. If this is your story, The Serenity Center was opened with you in mind. Reducing suffering to manageable levels is an achievable goal - and all you may need is a skillful guide.

Emotionally Focused Therapists

Who is emotionally focused therapy for?

Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) is for couples who are emotionally distressed, stuck in an unsatisfying relationship pattern or feeling deeply alienated. They may even believe the relationship is beyond repair. Very often, the partners display intense anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal in the relationship. In addition, EFT is helpful to couples and individuals who have difficulty expressing emotions and those who have trouble regulating emotions.

Why do people need emotionally focused therapy?

People need emotionally focused therapy because the need for others is built into the brain, but the pressures of daily life can erode feelings of love, and couples often do not have the skills to find their way back to the comfort of each other. Instead, they may be stuck in repetitive patterns of anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal. Emotionally focused therapy regards such strong negative feelings as expressions of protest over the loss of connection and turns them into pathways of reconnection.

What happens in emotionally focused therapy?

Over the course of eight to 20 weekly sessions, couples de-escalate their negative emotional reactivity to one another so that they can listen to each other and be responsive to each other’s needs. Then the deep emotional and physical bond is restored, giving partners a sense of comfort and security, which they can use to solve whatever problems come their way. The therapist plays an active role, helping partners understand how anger and withdrawal are actually misguided cries for connection.

What problems does emotionally focused therapy treat?

EFT is designed to help couples stuck in dysfunctional relationship patterns regain closeness and rebuild their relationship. Typically, such couples experience considerable distress, with partners feeling alienated and distrustful of one another, not certain their relationship can survive. EFT is also helpful to individuals experiencing attachment-related fears of loss; it helps them learn to use their fears as a way of eliciting the closeness they desire.
