I understand the importance of needing to feel understood and seen. When therapy is successful, we often will experience a greater sense of spaciousness inside ourselves, freedom from our own judgments, and are reminded that confronting our pain won’t destroy us. The goal is not a short-term fix but instead a long-term shift that brings forth feelings of empowerment, resiliency, and a confidence that our brains and our lives can change. As a consequence of shifting our relationship to ourselves and to our pain, the uncomfortable symptoms often associated with anxiety, trauma, and depression begin to dissolve and loosen their grip.

Hi! It is so hard to find a space where we can truly feel authentic and accepted for all parts that make us, "us". In my practice, I strive to honor this and co-create a place where my clients can embrace their entire selves to foster healing and growth. I enjoy supporting teens, young adults, the LGBTQIA+ community, and neurodiverse folks, along with survivors of intimate partner violence and other forms of complex trauma. With every client, I like to highlight and reinforce those interests and relationships that fulfill us and further our journeys, such as video games, tv shows, movies, art, music, and other media we cherish.

For 40 years, I have been honored to facilitate transformative changes for a culturally diverse clientele dealing with the trauma of sexual assault, grief and loss, substance abuse, anxiety, and inappropriate expressions of anger. I work with children and teens individually and in the context of their families. Parents who want help for their children may be called on to examine their own childhood and how it can affect current relationships with family members.

Individuals, couples, and families deserve the right to overcome life's challenges. The strongest can get bogged down by sadness, worry, stress, or difficulties in close relationships. Moreover, even the best couples can find themselves stuck in patterns of poor communication often resulting in feelings of isolation despite the strong desire for closeness. Lastly, the family is one of the most important environments that shape our lives. Yet, unexpected events can derail individual and family relationships and development. My goal is to help you tap into the courage and strength you posses and move from distress to empowerment.

The clients that I collaborate most effectively with are those who are in a place of thoughtful contemplation-curious about their lives, their symptoms, their struggles and successes, and the impact of their decision making on their everyday experience. Through both traditional "information gathering" assessment and innovative "collaborative/ therapeutic assessment," together we can begin to better understand you within the context of your life experiences, cultural affiliation, and familial background and history, and set the stage for growth. My goal is to make our assessment a positive and useful experience, and to help you create positive therapeutic changes in your life.
