My ideal clients span generations, encompassing children, teens, and adults, each with their unique set of challenges and aspirations. Children may grapple with anxiety, behavioral issues, or difficulties adjusting to life changes. Teens often face identity struggles, peer pressure, and academic stress. Adults may contend with relationship conflicts, career transitions, or unresolved trauma. Regardless of age, my clients share a common need for understanding, validation, and support. They seek a safe space to explore their emotions, confront their fears, and cultivate resilience.

Contemplating therapy can provoke feelings of nervousness and doubt due to thoughts like "Will it really help?" or excuses like "I don't have the time". My answer: why not see for yourself? Isn't it worth a try? I am here to listen to you. Having worked with families, children, adolescents, and adults for over 10 years as a therapist and school social worker, I know how to create a safe and empowering environment to process feelings and build insight, problem solving, and coping skills.

Do you experience difficulty with managing depression, anxiety, or OCD? Are you suffering due to past trauma, or due to negative self-talk. In therapy, you can learn to cope with stressors and life transitions more effectively. Therapy can help you to manage worry, experience less anger, increase motivation, and feel more centered. Many people who struggle with sadness, stress, relationship conflicts, trauma, worry, or low self-esteem find it difficult to function at work, in their family environment, and in other social settings.

It takes an immense amount of strength and courage to reach out and take an active role in making changes. I honor where you are at and understand that you are the expert of your own life. Life can take its toll and feel overwhelming. A lot can feel out of our control. The good thing is we are never alone, even if it feels that way. I greatly value collaborative and strengths-based approaches, striving to work together to reach your goals. I see individuals and families on a variety of relational issues. We are all impacted by our family, responsibilities, circumstances, you name it.

You, your teen or child is struggling with distressing thoughts, which create anxiety. There are strong urges to do something to get immediate relief, whether it be avoidance, a ritual, or a physical or mental action. You or your child feel better in the moment, but it’s only temporary relief. This OCD or anxiety cycle quickly returns and becomes a vicious cycle day after day and they are mentally and physically exhausted. It leaves this uncomfortable feeling of distress. OCD, anxiety and trauma take up up time, energy and space in their mind which makes it difficult to live in the present moment. You crave long-term relief.

In my practice as a trauma-informed therapist, my ideal client is a child or adolescent who may be struggling with various emotional or behavioral challenges. These challenges could range from anxiety and depression to difficulties in social interactions or coping with significant life changes such as divorce or loss. Their needs are multifaceted, but primarily, they require a safe and supportive environment where they can express themselves freely through play and other therapeutic modalities. My goal is to empower them to develop coping skills, build resilience, and improve their emotional regulation.

The decision to start seeing a therapist often comes after months, or even years, of emotional struggle. You may feel like you should be able to handle this on your own or you may be losing hope that things can get better at all. It takes courage, hope, and determination to reach out for help. This is why, as a therapist, I work hard from day one to make you feel comfortable, accepted, and heard. I want you to know that you are not alone and that I can help you get through this. My goal at the end of therapy is always for my clients to feel whole and healthy and deeply connected to the people around them.

After all the painful things you’ve been through, you may wonder if you'll ever be able to feel happy and at peace. You might feel anxious and overwhelmed by strong emotions, or numb, detached and exhausted. You may feel unsafe, and find it’s hard to trust people or open up to them. You might feel confused about who you are and where your life is headed. You may wish you could feel better, but question whether that's even possible for you. I believe it is possible, and I'm here to help you. I received my doctorate from the PGSP-Stanford PsyD Consortium, and have devoted my career to helping people heal from stress and trauma.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
