I enjoy working with a variety of clients; families, individuals, adults, and teens. Nothing is more fulfilling to me than being a witness to someone's healing from their pain and moving on to live their life! I get excited when I work with families who come in at their wits' end about how they will ever get along, and, magically, after working together, they all learn how to communicate effectively and enjoy each other. Give me a call and let's get going!

I am passionate about the post-modern/ feminist approach to therapy.
Each client carries with them a unique story about their struggles. As a therapist, it is my job to help each client reach their full potential and unravel the story that has bound them for so long. I love being a part of a “breakthrough” moment. They are powerful moments that allow for the forgiveness of the past, and the excitement about the future.

Are you an adult who was recently diagnosed ADHD? Hi! Continually feeling overwhelmed is a sign that your current life is NOT sustainable and that change is desperately needed. You’re exhausted. You thought things would get better with time but they haven’t…. and to be truthful, they probably won’t unless change is consciously made. Trapped emotions can keep you tied to patterns that aren’t fueling the version of you that you want to be. That you choose to be. A new diagnosis, or curiosity around one from what you've heard from friends or seen online, can shed light on ways to support your best you.

I have worked with a variety of clients within different ages and stages of their life. I believe that the therapeutic process should be individually curtailed to each specific client. Every client processes information and sees the world differently. These are the factors at the forefront of my mind when I am considering interventions for clients. I enjoy standing beside my clients on their journey while helping, supporting, and encouraging them to reach their therapeutic goals.

You know when the time is right to get the help you need. Eventually, there comes a point when you just want to feel better. You want to stop feeling sad or angry, or stressed out. Maybe you'veou've tried self help books, and energy work and the recommendations of friends. But somehow, you know there's more to do. You realize that you can only get so far on your own. Deep down, you sense that finding someone who really gets you would be a relief, that asking for help is more a sign of strength than weakness, and that it really is possible to find the right person to help you feel better.

Feminist Therapists
How does feminist therapy work?
Feminist therapy sessions are not only personal but often cultural or political in nature, as the approach is based on the belief that people are affected by, and often struggle with, cultural and societal norms and biases, and need to move beyond those external pressures or stressors to tap their own confidence and engage more fully in their own identity. Sessions may therefore include discussions of sexism, diversity, and gender issues and talk of steps toward greater empowerment for patients who believe they have been silenced and seek to raise their voices.
What are examples of feminist therapy techniques?
Along with traditional talk therapy and analysis, a feminist therapist may employ techniques such as role-playing and assertiveness training to help clients build their self-esteem so that they feel they can act freely, and not based on cultural expectations or gender roles dictated by others. A feminist therapist may also engage in bibliotherapy, offering suggested readings on gender identity or social power inequities as they work toward viewing mental-health concerns through a broad cultural lens before focusing on how they affect the individual. Somatic therapy techniques, with an emphasis on body awareness, self-compassion, and mindfulness practices are also often part of feminist therapist practice.
How long does feminist therapy last?
As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for feminist therapy; people who believe that they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that had been holding them back. It may take some time to become comfortable discussing personal issues, but once a client feels they can do so, they could expect therapy to last for a number of months, typically including at least 12 sessions.
Does feminist therapy work?
As a relatively recent therapeutic technique, there is not yet a body of evidence proving the efficacy of feminist therapy. However, the approach is based on proven core principles of talk therapy, with a particular emphasis on developing a therapeutic relationship based on equality and authentic connection between therapist and client and discovering and building on clients’ personal strengths to help them gain a greater sense of personal power and agency.
