I am MDFT certified and use problem solving, structural and strategic family therapy techniques, which emphasizes crafting a strategy for treatment, thinking in stages of therapy and of change, out-of-session tasks as a complement to in-session change.
Hablo Español. Are you having a tough time with your adolescent? Everything you have tried just isn't working and you need something to change because your family can't keep going like this? Maybe you are an adult and you are feeling stuck, anxious, or depressed and you too need something to change. My clients are families, youth, individuals seeking relief and healing from painful circumstances, but desire to reconnect with their strengths, reclaim their voice, purpose, self worth, move toward functioning at their highest potential. Change and growth can often be difficult but you don't have to go through this alone.

People are my passion and I feel blessed to have found my calling. My background includes being a pastor's grandchild and having a military family, I have been a wife, and also a teacher. I am still a mother and a grandmother which all have led me to become a therapist. I began working in group homes, foster families, juvenile probation, private practice, schools, and the county jail. I have loved my jobs and feel blessed that, "I Get to go to work, I don't Have to go to work."

I help partners and family members rebuild safety and trust, create a caring connection, and resolve conflict with love and respect.
Couples, Men, Veterans, and Families. I strive to make therapy a comfortable place where you can explore the deepest insights about yourself with compassion and empathy. Therapy becomes an experience and journey about who YOU are and where YOU want to go. Is something standing in the way? Are you stuck in repetitive patterns or plagued by underlying issues? Sometimes we feel frustrated and hurt by those we so want to feel close to. You are not alone in the possible fears that might come along with seeking help. It's vulnerable. It can feel scary. Let me take that step with you to Keep Moving Forward.

I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and have graduated with a Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from Walden University. I earned my undergraduate degree in Dietetics from California State University of Long Beach. I take a comprehensive approach to therapy (body, mind, & spirit) looking at the entire person, relationships, and the environment they live in. I know how difficult life's challenges can be, having gone through several of them myself. Individuals can feel helpless over their problems and suffer with intense emotional pain. I like to teach an attitude of hope and personal responsibility for healing.

Congratulations for having the courage to take the first step toward your healing, transcendence and transformation! Sometimes life isn't fair, or its confusing, or worse, hurtful and traumatizing. Whether the source of your distress originates from early experiences, heredity influences or traumatic events, it can set in motion patterns to which one can be blind but painfully affected. I would be honored to coach, guide, educate and accompany you on your healing path as you identify the sources of distress, process through traumatic experiences or strategize and implement more effective ways of being.

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
