I specialize in Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS) and am a Level 2 trained therapist.
When we feel overwhelmed, we get out of alignment emotionally, mentally, spiritually, and physically. This affects our nervous system and can show up as stress, lack of energy, overthinking, addictive behaviors, anxiety, and depression, etc. Trauma can be anything that overwhelmed us. Unresolved trauma drains our system of energy. As a holistic therapist, we address body, mind, and spirit to discover and heal what holds us back. My hope is to provide a safe space for you to access your internal healing wisdom, so that you can be present for what is difficult or painful, make the changes you want, and find greater energy.

One of the primary reasons I love intervention work is to not just see the addict get relief, but for their family and friends have relief as well.
Interventions work more often than not. Do you have a loved one or someone you care about suffering with the disease of addiction/alcholism and or mental illness? Properly facilitated intervention is successful 90% of the time, meaning we typically are able to get the individual into a treatment setting that aligns with what your loved one needs based upon taking a comprehensive history. All treatment settings are not the same, we will walk you through the intervention process, help identify the appropriate treatment destination, and manage the crisis from first call to successful admission.

Hi. My name is Watha Dubonnet. In addition to being a Marriage and Family Therapist for thirty-plus years, I have raised three kids, been worked over by a two-year-old, and survived their teenage years. I fell in love with my Grandson, forgot how to say no, but he grew up in spite of me anyway. Life throws all kinds of fastballs at us sometimes and I am here to help. You are not alone. I generally work with clients who are seeking help, safety, and understanding of their current situation.

We would love to speak with you about how we can help your family access skills and inner resources to thrive.
When our children's hearts have been broken, our hearts break, too. Parents often struggle with knowing how to care for a hurting child. The child's behaviors can be challenging. A parent's own unhealed wounds get triggered. Then, there's the parenting guilt! It can be overwhelming. We understand and we are here to help.

It can reflect looking at ourselves as individuals, members of a family or other group, or at our behaviors and how we interact with others.
More than just a way to capture attention, the spelling of Inner Fōkus also carries a personal meaning to the founders. The name is a nod to the German heritage shared by both Dr. Lori and Dr. Patrick, since “fōkus” is the correct spelling of “focus” in German. Our heritage, culture, and environment can have great impacts in shaping who we are. Our name, Inner Fōkus, also serves as a prominent reminder of the importance to occasionally break from current patterns and try new things.

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
