My extensive background working with children, adolescents and their families allows me to assist in decreasing relational discord and improve family cohesiveness.
It's not what you thought it would be, and that's okay. Life transitions are hard. As much as we try to prepare ourselves, we can never be fully prepared. However, we can work together to help you embrace the changes and learn to navigate life with a new fresh perspective. And who knows, you might just find that the changes or life transitions you experienced, creates a better version of yourself. I am a Certified Perinatal Mental Health Professional. I also have an extensive background working with children, adolescents and young adults.

As we wonder how to navigate life, we may face several obstacles and challenges that can seem overwhelming or unbearable. As a Mental Health Professional, I am here to support people on how to successfully keep themselves afloat. I received my Bachelors degree in Psychology in 1997 from the Universidad de Guadalajara in Mexico, and after a couple of years treating people of all ages I decided to move to California to complete graduate school. I graduated with a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology, with emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pepperdine University in 2006 and I have been licensed since 2012.

For over 15 years I 've had the privilege of working with adults, families, children, and adolescents, hearing their stories, helping work through problems, and discover healthier ways of coping.
With all the increased challenges and turmoil in the world today many people have felt increasingly overwhelmed, depressed, or anxious. Others are looking for support as they navigate life changes, want to know how to cope with stress better, or have a desire for improved relationships and communication. Some are seeking help for their child who is struggling. If this is you there is hope for change, healing, and growth through therapy. I provide empathic support and assistance in order to identify your personal strengths, heal from past trauma, replace negative patterns that keep you stuck, and learn new ways of coping.

My name is Viti Golomb, and I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Therapy works best as a collaborative, client focused, nurturing and supportive relationship. We will focus on healing and strengthening your relationship to yourself, which will lead to stronger, healthier personal relationships. I use cognitive behavioral therapy. We will examine thoughts that lead to pain and unproductive patterns of behavior, educate about how those thoughts cause feelings of sadness, anxiety, etc., restructure those thoughts and learned new coping skills. I also use solution focused therapy to work on future goals.

“Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness." When it comes to having ADHD, it feels as though there are five steps to complete before showing up to the start line everyone else begins at automatically. Underneath the outward mask can be feelings of isolation, being misunderstood, experiences of rejection, depression, anxiety, and a constant state of burn out always on the horizon. As a therapist for ADHD, the neurodivergent lens is applied from start to finish with a focus on learning how to communicate needs to help move through life's struggles. My goal is to help you build a strong and mindful relationship with yourself and curate how that self moves with the world.

Teen Therapists

What does therapy for teenagers look like?

When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?

There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?

You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
