Being a member of our complex, ever-changing world can bring a ton of challenges and growing pains. I became a psychologist because I appreciate seeing this world from others’ perspectives, while being able to assist them to live a fulfilling life by their own standards. I will partner with you to navigate this environment in a way that fits your personal preferences, needs, and lifestyle, as to retain your inherent humanity and curiosity for what life brings. My therapy style is multi-modal and solution-focused, in a way that integrates the complex factors you face in order to achieve your goals.

Sitting with oneself, whether in individual, couple or family therapy, is not easy and I see my clients as courageous and hopeful for taking this step. Sometimes therapy is healing and transformational, other times it is simply a space to take some deep breaths. Either way, my practice is always client-centered and compassion-based, being present with you in whatever space you are in. My hope in working with me is that you develop a sense of self-compassion and a strength-based lens to view yourself and your relationships through.

Are you looking for a place to explore your thoughts, feelings, and worries without shame or judgment? The decision to seek out therapy is a personal choice made by many teens and adults. Sometimes my clients choose to work on a long-standing mental health struggle such as depression, anxiety, or grief and loss issues. Therapy is useful during times of significant transition or stress such as loss of a loved one, launching into adulthood, bullying, or trauma. Therapy is right for anyone who has a desire to learn more about themselves and make positive changes in their overall wellness, relationships, or daily life.

Life is an ongoing journey of growth and learning. It involves ups and downs, and ruptures do happen. Do we know how to heal and repair those ruptures? Whether processing grief or trauma, or wondering if intimacy and trust can ever happen, or wondering why we stay stuck in unhealthy patterns that just aren't working, I will help you uncover what it is you really want for yourself and then support you in committing to a path forward. I also welcome the challenge of helping partners listen and feel heard as separate individuals, so that they can collaborate on a shared vision that works for all involved. You deserve more joy!

Are you worried about your teen losing weight or struggling with body image concerns? Do you notice that your teen is restricting meals and want to effectively support them? Or feeling stuck in your own mental health journey? Do you tend to ask yourself, Why am i not good enough? or Why do I often feel stressed about daily life, finding it hard to sustain a "work life balance?" Or even as new moms, do you feel weighed down by the sudden changes in life and feeling overwhelmed, and looking to transition back to work? It can feel exhausting trying to do it all whether you are a parent/caregiver or coming here to support your teen.

Perhaps you found this page because you are familiar with the struggle of being in unsatisfying relationships and/or feeling unhappy in the life you are living. There may be a part of you that thinks "I am the problem" or "this is the best it will ever be, so I better make it work." Or maybe even another part of you telling you that you aren't good enough because nothing you have tried so far has gotten you to where you want to be. Maybe you find yourself feeling stuck and overwhelmed with emotions that feel totally out of control. AND all of this is on top of the everyday stressors that we all have in this crazy world we live in.

I believe if we can transform the couple’s relationships, we are not only helping them, but also helping them and their families for generations to come. Also, most of people’s toughest struggles are related to their relational issues so, as the relationship improves, the person's individual problems seem less challenging.

Listening and helping a client walk through a time in their life that may be difficult to do on their own is a calling that I have felt since I was a child. Being present, offering up support, and providing effective evidenced based resources with the professional training and experience I have gained has allowed me to align my passion with a purpose. Working with me will give each client the objective, unbiased aspect that often is difficult to find as well as an opportunity to build a rapport of professionalism and respect in a friendly setting. I work mostly with individuals ages 18+.

Our hands were empty except for our hands. (Ocean Vuong, On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous) I work well with people of color, LGBTQs, and genderqueer people struggling with burn out and navigating career challenges. I approach therapy as a form of "ethical listening" to feelings, dreams, thoughts, and anxieties. Here is a safe landing pad to slow things down to hear out how you feel in moments of distress with others. I help clients out of chronic anxiety through boundary skills and grieving unresolved losses in order to set you free.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
