The last few years have been very challenging for me personally, I have suffered from anxiety and depression much like many of you. It has surprised me that it has taken so long to get back to feeling like myself again! Does this sound familiar to you? I know how you are feeling, and we can help each other get through this challenge. I am very empathetic, and can offer my training and experience treating clients with depression, anxiety, life transition, I have also worked with clients who are recovering from addiction. I have worked with children and teens who have struggled with anxiety, bullying, social challenges, and divorce.

While I was growing up having a space and someone to talk to was very important to me during the different stages of my life, and that is the reason why I would like to do the same for you. Right now, you might be needing that space and time to open up and say what you want to say without criticism. You might be needing someone to help you to figure it out next steps in your life or someone that provide you that support that you might be needing during those difficult life changes.

Are you an animal lover? If a four-legged co-therapist sounds good, then you will love our center. The office is located on a beautiful ranch where animals abound. You can choose to talk in the office with a dog at your feet, a cat in your lap, or just enjoy the view of the horse pasture from the window. If walking and talking is easier, we can stroll the grounds, sit by the duck pond, or pet goats in the petting zoo. Or try Equine Assisted Counseling, an effective, experiential approach to therapy. You will interact with horses who act as a mirror, allowing you to gain valuable insights and solutions. The choice is yours.

As the owner and founder of Foundation For Hope Counseling, I am passionate about assisting in the rehabilitation of individuals and families affected by Mental Health and Substance Use Disorders. I believe every person that has/had problems in this area can overcome. It simply takes someone who can show compassion and empathy, but speak the truth in love, to help. The consistency it takes to walk the individual or family through these times, is what I take pride in doing. If this sounds like you, you are not alone and there is a way out, there is help. There is an abundant life beyond what you can see, let's uncover it together.

You love your partner, you do, but things have been hard. You're not communicating the way you used to, and tensions are high. You both are having trouble finding common ground and understanding what the other needs. You feel like you're doing your part and it's not enough. Maybe it’s the division of responsibilities. Maybe its issues with trust. Whatever it is, you know that the two of you need help getting back on track to have the relationship you want. You both are ready to do the work so you can stop trying so hard. As a couple, you're ready to push through the challenges to live more fully in the moment, together.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
