There is really no issue to big or too small to bring to therapy. I have seen people go through so much positive change because of their work in therapy and think it is such an awesome process. Just because we can go through life in survival mode and bouncing off our ups and downs, does not mean we should. I love to talk about everything therapy, so I encourage people to reach out.

As a Latinx woman, who has faced the struggle and challenges of societal and cultural expectations, I am passionate about empowering others to become the best version of themselves. Together, we can achieve this by looking within to find the strength to unlearn old patterns that do not serve you anymore. Life can be full of peaks and valleys, and I am here to support you through the journey.

I am a former Bank Professional with many years of experience working with individuals and families in diverse communities. As a Clinician, I have created a special niche for professionals who need a safe space to enhance their own mental, financial and/or emotional health, as well as work through difficult personal and work relationships. I also work closely with couples who seek clarity, re-newed commitments and deeper connections to each other. Additionally, I provide pre-marital counseling with a focus on spiritual and financial health as financial stress and internal strife can be major sources of marital/partner conflicts.

If you are ready to embark on your healing journey, then this is a sacred space for you to begin. You are someone who wants to identify their strengths and optimize life through the potential that is already within. You may want to work on overwhelming feelings of anxiety, depression, manage difficult life transitions, address family conflict, process past/current childhood experiences, or simply have a listening ear.

I get it. Deciding to go to therapy can be a tough decision. We’ve become conditioned to believe that therapy is for “other people” and just not for us. Often times, we were not provided the tools we needed to handle our emotions which can leave us feeling overwhelmed, depressed, anxious and alone. I encourage you to take the time to emotionally invest in yourself so that you can nurture happy, healthy relationships with yourself and those close to you.

You can’t believe it happened again. After repeated assurances to your loved one, changing habits in your daily life, and promising yourself you’d be better, here you are. You sit across from your them, crying, pleading with them to forgive you after this latest outburst. The look of hurt on their face is soul-crushing. Even once they accept your apology, the guilt doesn’t subside – if anything, it gets worse. You love this person so much, but you’re not sure your relationship can handle another blow like this. You wish you had some control over your emotions, and fear it’s only a matter of time before this happens again.

Struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, life transitions, feeling disconnected, burn out, and other life pains can be entirely too tough to manage alone. If you are a person of color, navigating these experiences may feel more isolating when you've never been taught to express them or never connected to resources. Whether you know your exact triggers or are completely unaware of the source of your discomfort we can all benefit from a space to be heard, expand our coping toolbox and experience the warmth of self care. Often times, challenges with mental health and psychological pain create feelings of unsafety in our own mind.

As humans, we are wired for connection, but couples often get stuck in a negative cycle of conflict that blocks that connection and leaves them desperate to find it again. Please, don't give up on your relationship; there is hope, and I am here to help you dissolve those blocks and create new ways of feeling heard, seen, and understood. I especially enjoy working in the Christian, African-American, and Latin communities.

Elite Athletes, high performers, actors, artists and public speakers need to have support in life as pressure mounts. Setting healthy boundaries, learning to identify your needs and share them with others can often be hard for athletes to balance between performing at optimal levels while having the relationships they want. People working in Sports and Entertainment often find themselves struggling to identify what they need and therapy can help to create the self awareness that leads to confidence, healthy relationships and improved motivation.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
