I use CBT, psychodynamic, relational, existential, and humanistic psychology approaches.
Life is complicated, and often very difficult. My goal is to help you deal with that. Relationships are so important to us, yet they’re the hardest thing we do. Sometimes the people that love us most, hurt us most.

I employ a non-judgmental collaborative methodology, clinically grounded in an existential and post-modern orientation.
I conduct psychotherapy with individuals who are experiencing difficulties related to sadness, depression, anxiety, detrimental relationships, and challenging life transitions. I have a lot of experience helping people conquer trauma and oppression related to objectification, perfectionism, substance issues, alienation, trauma, and marginalization. As a writer and veteran of the entertainment industry, I am particularly skilled at helping people with issues related to creative expression.

My integrative approach to therapy often includes a blend of psychodynamic philosophy (exploring thought and emotional experiences) and existential elements (finding meaning and purpose in life), ultimately tailored to each individual, couple/relationship, and group.
I help adults make sense of their experiences in a meaningful way. People come to me who are inquisitive and trying their best, yet still feel detached and longing for a better understanding of their lives. Oftentimes they’ve been in the driver’s seat going 100 miles an hour for years and can’t quite figure out how to slow down. Together, we work to slow fast-paced life, be present, and ultimately, see the once-blurry scenes in a clearer way. Just as each road trip is unique, so too is our tailor-made therapy. If you’re open-minded, motivated, and filled with curiosity, let’s see if we’re a good match!

I help people with emotional pain, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, overthinking, isolation, existential distress, loss of a loved one, career issues, trauma, heartache, people-pleasing, issues of identity, gender, and sexuality, substance use, recovery, and relationship, family, and friendship struggles.
There are good reasons to look for support right now. Maybe you're dealing with anxiety, depression, grief, relationship issues, or have a desire to know yourself better. Sometimes, it's possible to figure things out on your own, and sometimes, it takes the help of another. We will talk together, finding a rhythm and shared language. This is an important place to start. From there it becomes possible to think about the issues that are impacting you, in a process of reflection and uncovering which looks a little different for everyone.

Let's just put it out there: Livin’ ain’t easy! You’re dealing with the pressures of high performance, anxieties of what others think, the injustice of /phobias and /isms, fears of failure, and paralysis in starting that project/hobby/career you always dreamed of. You’re feeling flat in your relationships and wondering, Is this it? These things are all part of what it means to exist and be human. The thing is, we can’t navigate them alone. As relational beings, we need compassionate guidance to see us through the other side of possibility. Despite rugged individualism, it's actually brave of you to be here. Welcome.

If you are struggling with anxiety, depression, your past, your present, or your future, you don’t have to do it alone. A shift in perspective can profoundly affect how we feel and what we are able to do, or stop doing, in our lives. Talking with someone who is both objective and 100% on your side can help you see things from a new angle and move forward in new ways, with someone who cares standing behind you.

I am a strength-based therapist working in Northeast Los Angeles. I welcome collaborative conversations regarding the preferred lives those would like to inhabit, finding myself continually curious about the inherent resourcefulness of my clients. I enjoy helping artists to align with preferred intentions in creativity. Often the trickery of circulated messages around "success" can spell us into forgetting one's values in life. As adjunct faculty at Antioch University Los Angeles, I teach numerous courses including Narrative Therapy In Practice, Postmodern Approaches to Addiction, and Group Treatment.

Everyone goes through challenging situations in life & while you may have successfully navigated through other difficulties you've faced, there's nothing wrong with seeking out extra support. Therapy can be a tremendous asset to managing personal growth, interpersonal relationships, marriage issues, & the hassles of daily life. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges in your life. By applying a variety of therapeutic approaches we can explore long-standing behavior patterns or negative perceptions that may be holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling & meaningful life.

Are you looking to solve the problem you have been having within your family? I am here to help you get the support you’ve been looking for to improve your relationships. Help with the fights at home about homework. Help getting your child to do what they are told the first time. Help with a transition to a new stage of life. I've always gravitated towards working with youth and young adults with the highest needs because that is where I have seen I've been most effective as a therapist.

It's been said that the ultimate purpose of psychotherapy is to introduce a person to herself or himself. The struggles of life can cause us to lose touch with our true thoughts, our true feelings, our true selves and, as a result, we can become dissatisfied and unhappy living the life that we think we’re supposed to live rather than the one we truly desire. Effective psychotherapy can reconnect us with our authentic selves and, once that has been accomplished, everything is possible. It is this principle that guides all of the work I do with my clients.

In my experience, psychotherapy can be a home for the doubts, questions, and dreams that may otherwise be relegated to the shadows. I see my role as an empathic companion as a well as an active guide who creates a safe base from which to walk on paths less trodden. The people that I work with often start this process with the sense that something is "off" or the fear that they are either "too much" or "not enough." And along the way, they gain clarity and compassion.

Reaching out for help can be one of the hardest things to do when you're struggling the most. What if no one understands you or you feel judged? How do you know you can trust them to take you seriously or care? I understand that these are natural fears when you're sharing the hurt and vulnerable parts of yourself. For this reason, my goal is to make sure you feel safe and heard by providing an empathetic and judgement-free space regardless of your background.

Nothing feels right. Your body, your relationships, your job--they all feel so heavy, so frustrating, and out of your control . You wake up stressed before you even get out of bed. Sometimes you respond with anger, sometimes panic, sometimes you simply withdraw. Maybe you've imagined the way things are supposed to be, and wonder what you're doing wrong, or maybe you feel like circumstances, or other people are blocking you from your ideal life. Or perhaps you are so stressed that you can't even imagine a better life because it seems so unrealistic. What's the point?

Existential Therapists

How does existential therapy work?

Existential therapy focuses on a patient’s inner experiences. The therapist tries to help the individual comprehend and alleviate symptoms by exploring their interior life. By confronting negative disquiet and emotions, the individual will hopefully become more open to finding meaning and purpose. This therapy can be administered to individuals or groups.

Is existential therapy evidence-based?

Existential therapy is an evidence-based practice. Research has determined that existential therapy can lead to significant improvement in the mental health of patients, and for some people it can be just as effective as cognitive behavioral therapy. The benefits of existential therapy are enduring, even long after treatment has ended.

How long does existential therapy last?

The goal of existential therapy is to understand a person’s internal experiences, which may sound like a lengthy process, but it does not have to be so in-depth. However, sessions are not short-term, and therapy can continue for months or up to a year. And because patients learn the theory behind existential therapy during treatment, they can also practice its tenets throughout life after therapy sessions have been completed.

Is existential therapy effective?

According to research, many patients find success with existential therapy. Researchers note that the therapy is particularly useful in improving feelings of isolation, feelings of purposelessness, as well as conditions such as anxiety and depression. Improvements in problem areas can persist even after the end of existential therapy, as individuals can continue working on themselves by using the tools they’ve developed during treatment.
