OCD and anxiety can be very manageable when implementing the right tools and techniques.
It shows a lot of strength to seek support when needed. Therapy is there to provide you with the space to heal and grow. I value the therapeutic relationship and believe that forming a positive connection with your therapist is a vital part of successful treatment. I offer a safe, compassionate, collaborative, and challenging space to support with improving quality of life and well-being. I have been trained to treat Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Anxiety Disorders, and Depression. I have worked and treated various themes of OCD both in an intensive treatment center and in an outpatient setting.

I approach mental health in a systemic, collaborative, strengths-based therapeutic way to help clients acknowledge the various unique contexts which impact their lives. This allows them to connect with their strengths and learn new ways to live in wholeness. My empathy and warmth help create a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients can process and heal. I utilize various therapeutic approaches. I believe that clients have the answers, and together, we will find a deeper awareness of who they are, who they want to become, and how to propel them onto a path of healing, growth, and actualization.

Expect something different with me. I'm creative, I'm straight forward, and I'm pretty sure I'll make you laugh. Who said therapy has to be scary or boring? I have worked in the psychiatric social work field for over 15 years in both England and the United States. I have worked with adults with a wide range of mental health difficulties. I have experience treating adults with anxiety, depression, trauma as well as other mood, psychotic, and substance abuse disorders. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to educate individuals on their symptoms, the roots of those symptoms and how to challenge, cope and work through them.

*VIDEO & PHONE SESSIONS AVAILABLE* Have your session in the comfort of your own home (or backyard, or while you’re on a walk, or …well you get the picture). My passion is working with individuals experiencing anxiety, stress, mild to moderate depression, or who simply need a space to work on their self-care. I believe everyone has the tools to feel better, they just sometimes need help learning how to access these tools and use them their benefit. Being a therapist is a privilege, and I would be honored to help you through a difficult time in your life.

I provide in-person and virtual therapy for adults and adolescents, specializing in OCD and related disorders through Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP).
I work with adults or adolescents facing significant life challenges, such as OCD, relationship issues, or major life transitions. They feel overwhelmed and seek clarity and empowerment. Their primary need is compassionate support in a safe space to explore their thoughts and feelings. Their goals include gaining insight, developing coping strategies, and enhancing their overall quality of life. They want to feel more in control and foster healthier relationships. Ultimately, they seek a therapeutic partnership that nurtures curiosity and resilience, transforming challenges into opportunities for growth.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
