As a licensed clinical social worker, I take a humanistic perspective, utilizing both psychodynamic and holistic approaches to support my clients moving toward their valued direction and developing the skills to do so. Only by taking the time to explore your inner-workings, can we begin to identify and eradicate what doesn’t work by developing strategies & moving towards what does, allowing a healthy authentic adult version of you to emerge.

As a person who has experienced multiple traumas both as a child and as an adult, I know that being on the path to healing is one of the bravest and hardest journeys we will take in this lifetime. On this journey of unlearning, learning, and becoming I have learned that we humans are integrated beings and therefore require an integrated approach to healing. Working with me will include attuning to our psychological bodies, emotional bodies, physical bodies, and energetic bodies. I have witnessed the miracle of our capacity to heal and I would be honored to guide you to your best healer: YOU.

Psychotherapy deals with those issues close to the human heart: what we love, what we hate, what we fear, what we hope for. It might seem that such things would be obvious to everyone, but it can be surprisingly hard to understand not only what we want but why we want it. That's where a good therapist comes in, one who is trained and objective, but equally important, one who is compassionate and respectful. I can help you work through issues and difficulties that might otherwise seem insurmountable.

I work with adults and adolescents and particularly enjoy working with gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender clients.
We all can feel a little overwhelmed and often times we need more than our friends and family to talk to. At times, having someone to provide a non-judgmental safe listening space that promotes self-reflection, psychoeducation, and a growth mindset is incredibly empowering. I specialize in healing relationships with self and others, whether they are painful, confusing, or just plain unsatisfying. I'll help you learn to manage those difficult emotions and confusing situations so that you can move through those life transitions and issues with a greater sense of confidence and ease.

I've worked with issues ranging from Adjustment Disorders, Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, Schizophrenia, Personality Disorders, Sexual & Gender Identity, & Gender Dysphoria.
Are you ready to begin therapy? There comes a pivotal point in our lives we begin to start questioning our decisions and thoughts, the interactions we have in our intimate/platonic relationships, and/or why we feel "stuck". It often leads us to have difficulty regulating our daily thoughts, feelings, and emotions. The experience of hardships and emotional pain follow us like our own shadow contributing to the way we think, feel, and behave. I firmly believe early childhood experiences, complex and secondary trauma, daily stressors/challenges, and life adjustments shape who we are as individuals and how we relate to others.

Anxiety, shame, and chronic guilt; you don’t know how to relax, and you probably don’t sleep very well. The perfectionism is crippling, and you're exhausted. Maybe you're a people-pleaser with terrible boundaries, or a former “gifted and talented” kid, or a child of immigrants always reaching for "good enough." Your inner critic is loud. Anxious perfectionism may also show up as body tension and panic attacks; procrastination and indecision; an overwhelming to-do list; and difficulty in relationships. Perfectionists don't already do things perfectly—they feel like they HAVE to do better, but they’re ALWAYS falling short.

Transgender Therapists
As a gender-diverse individual, why might I want to see a therapist who is also gender diverse?
A trans or gender-diverse client may want to see a therapist who is also trans or gender diverse because the client may feel safer sharing their experiences and more confident that the therapist will understand, validate, and support them. But trans or gender-diverse clients can also benefit from therapy with cisgender therapists; this is a personal decision based on the connection between the client and the therapist, and if that connection is strong, therapy will be successful.
What if I cannot find a therapist who shares my gender identity?
Therapy can still be effective if a therapist does not share a client’s gender identity; a large body of research indicates that the most important factor in successful therapy is the therapeutic alliance. A therapist can also be interviewed for sensitivity and competence on gender identity and expression to ensure they possess appropriate knowledge and skills. Many therapists have excellent training and extensive experience working with gender-diverse clients, and that expertise can be invaluable despite a therapist not sharing the same firsthand experiences.
How can I recognize a good therapist for working with gender-diverse clients?
An experienced therapist should be able to help clients explore their gender identity and expression, alleviate discomfort related to their gender identity, treat mental health challenges and trauma, address existing relationships and communication with family members and loved ones, and determine the next steps pertaining to nonmedical or medical gender-affirming interventions. To recognize a good therapist, clients can ask about these topics and explore their comfort and connection with the clinician.
How might I inquire about a therapist’s experience working with transgender clients?
Clients should feel comfortable asking therapists directly about their experience working with transgender or gender-diverse clientele. For example, clients may ask about the therapist’s training and education with regard to gender identity, how many trans clients they’ve worked with in the past, and what sorts of matters were discussed. You may wish to inquire how a therapist specifically supports the needs of transgender clients or clients questioning their gender identity. A good clinician who is nonetheless not the right fit for you is often happy to make referrals to others based on the concerns you articulate in a preliminary conversation.
