I hope for my clients to discover personal insights, establish unique outcomes, and develop interpersonal skills necessary to move through life's hardships and turns.
Beginning therapy can bring about numerous feelings and expectations. I enjoy learning from the unique worldviews that my clients experience life, and using it for the client's growth. I believe the lives we live are fluid in meaning, and we are the authors of the stories we live. I enjoy working with clients of various ages and backgrounds, but particularly enjoy working with teens, young adults, adults and families who are living through substantial life changes and transitions in the areas of school, work, and relationships.

My approach is client-centered, strength based. This means that individuals have the internal resources to work through life issues but just need someone to help them access them. I know that there is no single approach that is right for everyone so I work from an eclectic approach utilizing tools from various theoretical models. I offer a warm, accepting, and nurturing environment in which together we will work to gain a better understanding of yourself and make positive choices that will enable you to live your life fully.

Therapy can be scary and costly . It isn’t either in my practice. We all experience change, transition, conflict, work and relational stressors. Many experience trauma and stressors that begin to impact daily functioning. Therapy is a safe place to discuss and explore the current stressors you are facing. I’ll help make this possible in an empathetic and AFFORDABLE environment that fosters growth, and healing. You do the talking and I do the listening, caring and provide the tools to assist you in navigating life’s circumstances. Together we can work to address the personal and or relational stressors impacting your life!

After over 19 years working in the emergency medical service field, as an emergency medical technician and paramedic, I realized how a healthy state of mind can have a significant impact on an individual's physical health. Throughout my career, I helped thousands of individuals in their most vulnerable state, primarily by helping them feel safe and secure as well as empathizing and showing sincere compassion. In doing this, I witnessed a significant decrease in their physical symptoms as well as their emotional state.

I provide a safe and comfortable environment so you can start your healing and feel better. I have seen clients improve with the right guidance, motivation, and applying more effective coping strategies. If you struggle to manage your emotions, have difficulty trusting others, experience poor self-control, un-healthy relationships, un-healthy partners, get anxious, have poor communication skills, feel stressed out, low self-esteem, depressed, feel stuck/in a fog, and dwell on the past, give me call so we could talk. I am bilingual, English and Spanish speaking, and accept mostly PPO insurances. I offer free phone consultations.

Interpersonal Therapists

Is interpersonal therapy evidence-based?

Studies have found interpersonal therapy to be effective for life transitions including retirement, divorce, and job loss. Also, some studies have found it to be just as useful as medication and other therapy approaches. The benefits of interpersonal therapy can last long after treatment has been completed; the individual can use the tenets of this therapy throughout their life.

How long does interpersonal therapy take?

Interpersonal psychotherapy is normally time-limited and focuses on specific problems in the client’s everyday relationships. Treatment can be either one-on-one or take place in a group setting; it tends to last 12 to 16 weeks, depending on the individual client’s needs. If a new interpersonal problem arises in the future, the client may require additional therapy to address it specifically. The timeline and session schedule may vary depending on the client’s challenges as well as their progress. Treatment may conclude with wrap-up sessions to review the client’s accomplishments.

Is interpersonal therapy effective?

Research shows that interpersonal therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of conditions such as depression or anxiety. The approach may also offer a range of benefits that are hard to measure but valuable—including healthier relationships and improved feelings of self-worth. The therapist will give the client practical solutions that can be put into practice. The brief duration of this therapy also means that clients can see changes in their relationships fairly quickly.

What are the limitations of interpersonal therapy?

Interpersonal therapy may not effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as psychosis, chronic illness, or alcohol relapse. Because it is short-term in nature, it may not be the best approach for conditions that need to be tracked, though maintenance sessions are a viable approach under these circumstances.

Can interpersonal psychotherapy be done online?

Yes, interpersonal psychotherapy can be conducted effectively either in-person or online. A therapist with expertise in IPT will be able to adjust their techniques, such as role-playing, to better suit the online environment. Offering online IPT can make it more accessible for clients who have transportation difficulties; it also provides the ideal opportunity to explore challenges unique to digital relationships.
