Is your life overwhelming, out-of-control? Are you unmotivated; defeated? Has your self-esteem tanked? Have you lost passion for work...or for life? Are you burned-out? Do you keep trying to succeed but feel you're going nowhere? Have friends said "just get over it" ... something happened to you in the past ...but you just can't seem to shake if off? Change is possible.

Specializing in a holistic approach to mental health and wellness. How can we talk about what matters, if talking is too painful? Mindfulness-based movement and expression therapy can help first regulate and calm the nervous system before diving into the analytical work. This makes the process not only more comfortable for you but also more effective. I understand the importance of listening to your own experience first, you already know the answers, I’m just here to guide you to them.

I think the most important aspect of therapy is someone who understands, who has been there, and who can relate. I treat mental health and addiction because I understand it personally and professionally. I feel like we all need space for support and the ability to connect with someone. My favorite saying is "progress, not perfection" this means we just get up and try daily. If you are ready to take some steps, reach out! I look forward to connecting.

As a therapist who has sought out treatment for OCD myself, I know how scary it can feel to ask for support and I am so proud of you for taking the first step.
You feel anxious, stuck, and often made to feel out of control by your own thoughts and fears. Whether you have OCD, are struggling with perinatal or postpartum issues, are in transition, or have a history of trauma, you are tired of letting your fears and doubts run your life and relationships. You're discouraged from continuing toward your dreams. You want nothing more than to feel confident in yourself and live a life aligned with your values, but you are not sure where to start or worry about finding someone who will actually hear you. You've come to the right place, I'm here to work collaboratively with you and really listen.

More recently I was trained in the treatment of Depression. Before this, I had six years of experience working within the acute care setting in which I provided clinical intervention for life-threatening illnesses, death/dying, substance abuse, traumatic injuries, suicidality and self-harm, and adjustment issues. My therapeutic style is solution-oriented, outcome-based. I also really emphasize self-compassion.

I understand the pain as well as the intrusive thoughts that come with OCD.
From a young age, I found my passion in helping others. I knew the pain of feeling alone in my struggles, and having someone to talk to who understood made a difference. And as a mom of a teenage daughter, I witnessed the impact of OCD firsthand. My approach to treatment starts with building a connection. I'll meet you where you are and help you recognize your strength and power as you take control of OCD.

We’ll utilize ERP, which will significantly reduce OCD symptoms.
The paralysis of your obsessions and compulsive behaviors has gotten so bad that they’re affecting your well-being, leaving you feeling isolated and overwhelmed. You’ve struggled to socialize, leave the house, or even use the bathroom without anxiety weighing you down. You feel trapped—whether in a job that drains you, a relationship that no longer serves you, or the uncertainty of a major life transition. Mental blocks have gotten in the way of making progress and being truly present in the moment. These feelings cause panic attacks, and indecision takes time away from reaching your life goals and experiencing genuine happiness.

I have a deep passion for helping adults with OCD, emetophobia, specific phobias, anxiety, and body-focused repetitive behaviors. Maybe you have noticed that your fears and worries have created various challenges for you. Or that there are certain behaviors that are difficult to stop. Many feel alone and stuck with what may feel like never-ending thoughts and distressing emotions. What might make it more difficult is being unable to talk about your experiences with your loved ones, but you deserve to live a life where you no longer feel controlled by your intrusive thoughts and emotions.

I specialize in treating those with anxiety, worry, perfectionism, OCD, clutter, codependency or relationship issues, eating disorders, overeating and emotional eating, chronic dieting, body image issues, & addiction.
Anxiety can show up in many different ways in our life. It can make us work harder to prove ourselves or to have an unrealistic standard for ourselves. It can immobilize us and make us afraid to take any risks because we are fearful of potential outcomes. It can impact our relationships by leading to caretaking or people pleasing. It can lead us to try to control different areas of our lives and to avoid situations when we feel out of control. It may impact our ability to take care of ourselves, including effecting sleep and eating. Avoiding or attempting to manage anxiety can take a significant amount of time and energy.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
