I'd like to commend you for making the effort to safeguard your greatest assets: Your marriage, your relationships with family and friends, and your own mental health. Given our current societal state of affairs and tremendous declines in other assets, most everyone is feeling stressed-out, emotionally and physically drained, and pushed beyond their limits. I think it is fair to say that a vast majority have found themselves relying on their survival instincts to get through these tough economic times. Unfortunately, our survival instincts only benefit us in the short-term but do not help us in our pursuit to find resolution to life's problems.

Are you looking for a therapist you can really feel comfortable with? Someone you feel really gets you and you can open up to? I may just be the right therapist for you! Studies show that the most healing factor of successful therapy is the relationship between you and your therapist. In therapy I am very open and genuine with my clients, and people often comment on feeling that I am very approachable. I primarily practice from an attachment perspective, which emphasizes the ways that significant relationships in our lives effect our mental health and relationship patterns.

Providing evaluations, behavioral services, and ongoing therapeutic services for individuals and couples. There are no guarantees therapy will give you what you want but it may increase your awareness and understanding. It could help you to adapt to different life problems, relational issues and to make more educated choices. Finding a balance between logic and emotions is critical but learning a way to make reactions to events constructive instead of destructive is essential for promoting growth and development in our life and in our relationships. I am past military and I will always welcome veterans and their families to treatment.

Couple therapy works differently for everyone. Is couples therapy appropriate, and if so, where do you begin? Couples can wait weeks to see a therapist who may be a mismatch for their situation. Couples who could benefit from couples therapy benefit most when they have a clearer picture of what to address and the type of therapist to see. How do you improve your relationship when you don’t know where to start or if it is worth the effort? This is how.

You might be reading this because you or someone else is suffering. Possibly the life you worked for is in jeopardy. Maybe you are missing out by staying on the sidelines. Sometimes no matter how hard you try, you keep finding yourself in the same place again and again…STUCK. You can break the unhealthy patterns. Unfortunately to do so you might have to experience pain and emptiness to take steps to get better. My hope is that you find the support and help you need.

It can be difficult and uncomfortable to talk to someone we barely know about our thoughts and feelings, especially if they are upsetting to us. At some point in our lives, we will need someone to walk with us for awhile. Therapy is about me walking with you. I consider this a privilege and love helping people see how valuable they are, no matter what they have gone through.

Most of the time we are able to meet life's challenges using our natural resources of life experience and supportive relationships. Sometimes more specialized help is needed. There may be patterns of behaviors or relationships that one feels stuck in, or fated to repeat over and over. In those instances I feel I offer a warm, steady, and skillfull hand in understanding the root causes of these distressing patterns, and guidance in how to be free of them...finally.

For some, therapy is about accumulating tools and strategies for addressing specific life-struggles. For others, therapy is about better understanding oneself: solidifying your understanding of how you arrived at this place in your life and exploring how to find your way to a better, more fulfilling space. I provide individual, couples, family, and group psychotherapy services for adults and adolescents. I have the luxury of saying that I love what I do for a living, and I look forward to working with you in addressing your presenting concerns. Feel welcome to contact me for more information about my practice.

Life is a journey. I am not here to judge. I am here as a guide. I counsel individuals, couples, and teenagers in a safe, honest and "down-to-earth" manner. I work inside a comfortable, private office providing traditional psychotherapy. For those clients that would like a more experiential approach, I also take therapy outside with Walk and Talk Therapy. Individual clients accompany me on a two-hour light hike/walk that combines movement, nature and psychotherapy. For those who are too busy to leave their home or office, I provide on-line counseling as well. I am eager to meet you and honored to help.

Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile. My heart goes out to those who are struggling to find hope in their lives. Is that you? Have you felt like giving up? When everyone else around you seems to be happy, you do your best to put on a smile and act as if everything is okay, but it isn’t. You are struggling. Maybe you are feeling depressed or anxious. Maybe you are struggling in your relationships including your marriage, but don’t know why. Maybe you need healing from something someone else has done to you (including your spouse).

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has worked 20+ years with children and adults who have experienced mental health challenges related to anxiety, depression, disharmonious/conflictual relationships, parenting/co-parenting, and early childhood trauma. My approach is simple: Meet people where they are at from a compassionate, non-judgmental, and honest perspective. I use a collection of therapeutic techniques specific to the needs of the person, and my underlying philosophy is to facilitate conversations that evoke critical thinking so that people can master the skills necessary to resolve their own issues.

Do you struggle with unwanted sexual behaviors, compulsive acting out, and relationship troubles, that affects your day-to-day life, relationships, ability to function, or your school, work, and career? Do you feel depressed, overwhelmed, and trapped by the repeated cycle, just trying to get through the day? Do you hope that it could be better? Now, more than ever, teens and adults are feeling higher levels of shame and despair as they find themselves saturated in a hypersexual culture that supports addiction in many forms, constantly invited to exceed our limits with food, sex, work, money, and chemicals.

Being vulnerable to anyone is scary! But, I know you are on this page for a reason. You're ready for a change or, at least, know that there must be something different to experience. That's called HOPE! You could have hope that you don't have to be sad every day, hope that life doesn't have to be scary, hope in a relationship that isn't filled with contention, or hope that you can find your purpose in this world. Whatever your reason is, YOU'VE ALREADY COMPLETED THE FIRST STEP! You are seeking help!

I love helping people who have gone through tough times or couples dealing with life's ups and downs. They want a friendly space to talk freely, work on feeling stronger, and improve their relationships. They appreciate having a therapist who knows their story and can support them through everything, individually and as a couple.

Depression, anxiety, and strained relationships are unfortunately common experiences for so many people. Learning ways to cope, changing habits, or developing new styles of communication can be difficult. Addressing these challenges is not something you need to do alone. Therapy is a helpful tool in getting to the root of the problem to facilitate lasting change.

Male Therapists
As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?
There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.
How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?
Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client. Prospective clients should also ask what the expectation is for treatment, and what the fee structure is, and whether and which insurance plans are accepted.
Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?
Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with a male therapist. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges, in the case of male clients. Some women have prior negative experiences with women that predispose them to prefer working with a male in therapy. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.
Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?
Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
