I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR).
I believe human beings are capable of incredible change! If you desire positive change in your life and are willing to work for it then it is absolutely possible, especially with my help. I believe encouragement goes a long way, but being that I am also direct and take an interactive approach to therapy with my clients, I will provide you with more than a listening ear and the ever cliché "uh huh". I will give you useful insight and feedback regarding what seems to be keeping you "stuck" and preventing you from growing and becoming more of the person you want to be.

EMDR, mindfulness, cognitive-behavioral, and solution-focused therapies are among the approaches I use in developing an integrated, individualized treatment plan.
Have depression, fear, or anxiety been keeping you from living the kind of life you desire? Are you seeking to heal the effects of a past trauma, or change old behavior patterns that seem to be getting in your way? I have successfully helped individuals facing these challenges to experience a greater sense of peace and well-being, and to achieve their personal, relationship and professional goals. Clients often describe feeling a more positive sense of themselves and their life choices as a result of our work together.

I have a heart for clients of all ages and I believe it is never too early or too late to take any step in a positive direction. I have a passion for people with a history of trauma, abuse and/or addiction and I enjoy adolescents and adults alike. I believe that the one hour you devote to yourself during the therapy process will have a positive effect on the remaining 167 hours you will live during the week.

In working with adolescents and adults, I use a variety of therapeutic approaches such as: Attachment, Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral and EMDR techniques for support with identified goals.
Hello and Welcome! My practice revolves around the healthy development and emotional well being of individuals and our meaningful relationships. Since our primary relationships are with our caregivers; I specialize in joining with adults who seek guidance with parenting. With my support and specific strategies to promote children's behavioral health and early development, families can self correct and stay on course while living more effectively, joyfully and meaningfully. I understand how easily we can get off track and our work in therapy will begin wherever you are right now, no matter what your childs' age.

I am a Certified Prepare-Enrich facilitator and have been trained in EMDR and Brainspotting.
I recognize that it takes courage to seek counseling. I keep that in mind, as I come along side my clients and validate, encourage and challenge them in a safe environment to work toward their personal and specific goals. I do a lot of work with clients who have experienced childhood sexual or other types of abuse. I also do marital and pre-marital counseling and am a certified Prepare-Enrich facilitator. In addition, I help clients work through such issues as grief and loss, anger, depression, anxiety, codependency and life transitions. I am a Christian. My style is also helpful for non Christians.

Hello! I've been practicing as a therapist for five years. I have significant experience using Family Based Treatment (FBT), the leading evidence-based treatment for adolescents with anorexia that can effectively treat other eating disorders as well. I also have ample experience in treating adolescents and young adults with eating disorders with more common modalities such as CBT and DBT. People with eating disorders often struggle with other things, such as trauma and anxiety. As a result, I've become competent in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), an evidence-based treatment for trauma and other stressors.

When we first meet, I spend time getting to know your needs, and we go over the evidence-based interventions I tend to use most, which often include a blend of IFS, EMDR, and ACT therapies.
Do you struggle with trauma, depression, or anxiety symptoms that affect your ability to be fully present in your life? Or do you feel exhausted with trying to take good care of others, while feeling unsure about how to turn that compassion toward yourself? Do you wonder if your sense of fulfillment and connection could be better, but you're uncertain about how to get there? I believe it is possible for you to live more of the life you crave.

I am also trained in couples counseling, trauma treatment, and EMDR.
I believe joys and struggles in life stem from relationships. The relationship may be with yourself as you seek to establish your identity, values, and goals. Your relationship with others, such as your parents, spouse, children, co-workers, or friends, may need to be developed, redefined, clarified, or understood. Trauma, anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem are a few of the things that can hinder people in building the relationships they want. I am passionate about helping individuals, women, couples, and families build the relationships that bring them a sense of belonging and satisfaction.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
