Even the hardiest hero needs a guide. Struggles with mental health often leave us feeling alone and hopeless. We'll often wander searching for help and healing. That journey doesn't need to be walked alone. Let me join you along that journey of discovery to help you find that inner strength and tap into the wisdom of your body to level up. I use a variety of techniques to help you hone the magic that is within you. I use a combination of EMDR, DBT, and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy to unleash your creative strength to help you on that journey to be your best you.

Life can be wonderful & harmonious, & it can also be complicated. Often times, we go through life learning to hide parts of ourselves that have felt criticism, fear & other difficult emotions (rejection, hurt, etc.). We learn to ignore those difficult parts of ourselves due to shame & guilt, which can lead to sadness, worry, low self-esteem, trauma, and so on. These emotions & hurts can also affect the relationships around us (romantic, friendships, work, etc.), causing deeper pain & rejection. We notice our emotions, mind, & body’s reaction to situations that cause these parts to resurface & then struggle to cope.

For the past 18 years, I have been providing therapy to children, teens, adults, parents and families. I work with individuals suffering through depression, anxiety, grief, anger, trauma, mood fluctuations and behavioral issues, by emotional-bodily processing & reworking old family, archetypal, communication and thought patterns that may no longer be serving your growth in a safe, supporting, nurturing and non-judgmental space. My approach is a holistic one that incorporates the mental, emotional, physical & spiritual realms to help bring about symptom relief and empowered change.

Life can be difficult and sometimes we just need someone to offer us support and help us towards a more positive, clear direction. Relationship Issues, Sadness, Anger, Stress, Anxiety, Work Issues? I assist individuals with the difficult, and sometimes unpredictable, adjustments that they may experience or may need to make in their lives. I do this in a calm and safe environment that allows for an individual to express their feelings, share their thoughts and opinions, develop skills, and work towards completing their goals. I also offer a supportive, unbiased, non-judgmental space and relationship which fosters personal growth.

Our personalities are not just what we consciously choose; they're shaped by a mix of conscious and subconscious drives. We often act based on subconscious desires and motivations we might not be aware of. Some subconscious processes actually help us adapt and function better. By becoming more aware of these subconscious influences (both positive and negative), we can better regulate our emotions and respond more effectively to our environment. This is why I am committed to helping clients achieve their objectives by exploring and adjusting their thoughts and self-talk patterns.

Whether you are going through a difficult transition in life or have some long-standing issues you're now ready to work on, I'm here to walk along side you. I work primarily with individuals, and occasionally with families and couples. Individually, I help disentangle the complicated thoughts and emotions that can make day-to-day tasks, or even life-changing decisions, feel unmanageable.

Beginning psychotherapy can often feel intimidating and overwhelming. I hope to provide a space that is non-judgmental and transformative. I work with adults who are experiencing trauma, depression, grief, and many other effects from the challenges of the world that we live in, and experience in our daily lives. I believe that exploring and processing these experiences can feel better in the context of a safe environment, and in collaboration with someone that we trust.

As a family systems therapist, my goal is to help you uncover your true potential and lead a life that is worth celebrating. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand how the past has affected your life and resolve challenges in your life by resolving the past, We will unearth long-standing behavior patterns or negative perceptions. Through joural writing and autobiographical work, we can unraval the past, so the future is for you to make. In couples work, unravaling the personal past of each person in the relationship, can be the solution to a fuller and richer relationship.

I work with patients who are highly motivated to overcome challenges, and to gain meaningful self-discovery and self-development. My overall goal for patients is to promote real change, noticeable healing, and genuine insight (into oneself, others, and circumstances). I try to support and strengthen patients' coping abilities, while at the same time help them discover ways they undermine or self-sabotage their own success and well-being. I work to empower patients to develop themselves and develop healthier lives and relationships over time. It almost always take more time than we wish it did. Thus, I do not do brief therapy.

As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?
There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.
How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?
Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client. Prospective clients should also ask what the expectation is for treatment, and what the fee structure is, and whether and which insurance plans are accepted.
Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?
Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with a male therapist. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges, in the case of male clients. Some women have prior negative experiences with women that predispose them to prefer working with a male in therapy. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.
Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?
Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
