I am passionate about working with clients who want to form their identity, explore their spirituality, or heal from traumatic experiences.
Everyone has times in life where they feel stuck, whether that be in a harmful relationship, an unfulfilling job, a shaming culture, or a cycle of negative thinking. No matter where you are in life, there is hope for growth, healing, and self-discovery. You do not have to go through your journey alone. I believe we were created to be in relationship with one another, and that is how growth happens. I would love to talk with you and see if I would be a good fit to join you on your journey toward freedom and fulfillment.

Hi there, I'm Cheryl, a licensed marriage and family therapist. I help clients with anxiety, depression, marital/pre-marital issues, spirituality, relationship issues, infidelity, and more. I use a holistic approach incorporating all aspects of the individual (psychological, social, emotional, physical, and spiritual). While I could boast about my academic achievements and licenses, none of that will matter in the long run. What truly matters is “Results”. I know what it takes to promote real change. I create a place for individuals to talk about their experiences and feel heard.

I practice from a person-centered, decolonial lens that includes spirituality, somatic healing and internal Shadow/Inner Child work.
Do you identify as an Asian, Pacific Islander or Filipino woman or mother? Have you experienced sexual trauma or abusive relationships that left you with feelings of sadness, anger, resentment or guilt making it difficult for you to "move on"? Are you at a point in your life where you want to stop people pleasing and have a healthier relationship with your Self? If you answered yes to these questions and are looking for a therapist who understands the nuances of growing up in an Asian American household, you’ve come to the right place. I can help you process and better understand why you might be feeling so down or misunderstood.

This is a desire held by many, but sometimes we don’t quite know how to achieve this or address the roadblocks in our lives. I’m Dr. Rob Wolff, and I find no greater joy than helping people identify what their best life looks like and how to start living that best life. Some of life’s challenges may include depression, anxiety, substance abuse, relationship problems, sexual health, and navigating difficult situations. I have provided therapy for individuals (children K-12 and adults), family, group, and couple sessions for over ten years. My modality is Cognitive Behavioral which means we believe it is not the event itself but how we perceive and react to the circumstance that may cause a problem. We will explore different possibilities through our session and discover what may serve us the best in pursuing happiness.

As a Licensed Clinical Psychologist my approach is to offer the best professional care to each individual that I serve. My treatment approach is to prioritize building a safe therapeutic relationship, to provide empathy and support, and utilize therapeutic approaches that are effective, evidence-based and appropriate to the person I am working with. I believe that a good psychologist is not called to see through people, but rather, called to see people through.

Spirituality Therapists

What should I expect from therapy that incorporates a focus on spirituality?

Spirituality can mean different things to different individuals, depending on their experiences, beliefs, and life histories. Some individuals focus on strengthening their belief system, while others experience spirituality in secular ways, such as through meditation, yoga, or by spending time in nature. Clients can expect a therapist to help guide and grow their spirituality through any of these techniques, encouraging the individual to cope with the challenges they face and develop strategies to build resilience and purpose to improve their outlook in life.

What are the most common treatments that include spirituality?

There are several treatments that incorporate spirituality. Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) helps a person examine and reframe their negative thoughts and behaviors. Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) focuses on emotional acceptance and psychological flexibility. Existential therapy is most often used to address anxiety, depression, grief, loneliness, apathy, despair, questions of identity, and feelings of purposelessness and existential dread. Transpersonal therapy focuses on a client’s spirituality and meaning in life and may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualization, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork.

Can therapy incorporating spirituality help atheistic or agnostic individuals?

Yes. For non-believers, spirituality can offer benefits including a greater sense of connection to others and to the natural world. An interest in spirituality may also spur individuals to pursue mindfulness practices, or to contemplate their purpose in life and how to achieve it.

How effective is spirituality as a therapeutic remedy?

Research suggests spirituality is generally beneficial for individuals. It is correlated with better health habits, such as less substance use, and an improved capacity to cope with stress and other mental health challenges. Increased spirituality can lead individuals to become more empathic and less materialistic, as well.
