I incorporate Narrative therapy, Mindfulness, Relaxation techniques and Acceptance and Commitment therapy concepts that reveal a new perspective.
My practice is focused on empowering people to take charge of their lives and work towards goals that they set for themselves. I support individuals, couples and families in identifying patterns that are not working for them and creating cooperative relational dynamics. I enjoy helping people see themselves from a strengths perspective, creating a powerful counter message to the negative messages they may have received.

My internship was at the Sacramento VA, where I gained expertise in CBT for depression and anxiety, mindfulness, grief therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.
“We are all going through something.” – Anonymous. Feeling stuck, overwhelmed and unable to move forward and live your best life? Oftentimes it’s about your relationships, communicating with your partner, major decisions, or facing life’s unexpected challenges. Every so often it can even be those long-standing issues that you’ve been able to deal with, but this time, you just need a little help. To be human is to be in a relationship. Relationships can be with your spouse or partner, with your family, or even with Yourself.

Some things you will see in your work with me include CBT, mindfulness, trauma-informed practices, and solution-focused approaches.
Different seasons of life reveal different needs, hopes, and concerns in each of us. What worked for us as children or young adults may not fit as well in a different season, yet many of us find it hard to make the internal shifts to find something that fits better. We can get stuck, internally or externally, and experience stress and discontent as a result. I love working with clients to help them "unstick" and move into their present and future with tools that are a better fit for who they are and want to be. You DO have what you need to move forward into a more joyous, contented life - with just a little support and guidance.

Informed by trauma-informed therapies and guided by compassion, I use mindfulness, ACT, CBT and emotion regulation strategies to help clients create actionable change.
Tired of your inner critic running the show? Of the negative experiences from your past creeping their way into your present? It's time to take back control from those internalized negative messages and the story you’ve come to believe about yourself. Let's rewrite that story, starting now. I'm passionate about accompanying people on their healing & empowerment journeys. With a compassion-first approach, I specialize in providing support to those dealing with trauma, chronic pain, anxiety, and depression, as well as those confronting a new diagnosis or rebuilding their self-esteem after years of subscribing to self-limiting beliefs.

I tend to use Mindfulness-based strategies and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) most often, as well as parenting support, psychoeducation, and play and art activities.
Hello and welcome to my page. I bring 20 years of experience supporting children (ages 3-18) and families throughout varying stages of development and changes in life circumstances. While there is a multitude of reasons why families seek support, I may be most helpful to those facing challenges related to anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, adjustment-related stress, chronic illness, and relationship challenges. My education includes earning a BA and BS from UC Berkeley and MA and PsyD from Pepperdine University. I am also a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP).

“We find ourselves, time and time again in a thousand disguises on the path of life.”- Carl Jung. That path can be full of joy and dread, but it’s worth it. The challenge may be finding the inner strength and resolve to take the first step and find your own way through the dark night. Whether you're fighting dragons, depression, or anxiety, taking that first step is essential. That’s where I can help.

Things look pretty good from the other side of the street. Most see you as “having it altogether.” After all, you’re the driven, reliable one everyone turns to. But underneath, you feel disconnected, numb and alone. Sure, you can pull it together when you need to, and the drugs and alcohol help, but you know this cycle can’t last. To top it all off, you feel guilty you can’t be everything, to everyone, all the time. You know it’s time to make a change.

You’re finding it more and more difficult to hold it all together. After pushing down your emotions and "going along with things" for so long, there is all of a sudden very little space to hold anything else. It’s hard to concentrate, you’re irritable, your body aches. There are times when you feel you could jump out of your skin from the racing thoughts, and there are times where you want to crawl under a rock to escape the overwhelm. What has always worked in the past is not even touching these feelings.

I understand how complicated life can become, leading to such challenges as divorce, struggles raising children, blended families, difficult relationships, trauma, and loss. The ways you have adapted to those challenges may no longer work for you and we can discover new strengths and interactional patterns that can make life easier and simpler. I have helped individuals deal with anxiety and depression, and move through times of loss and trauma. I approach people with authenticity, honesty and openness.

Mindfulness-Based (MBCT) Therapists

How does mindfulness-based cognitive therapy work?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy originated in the work of John Kabat-Zinn of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He developed mindfulness-based stress reduction, which is a technique found in yoga and meditation. MBCT is a combination of this type of stress reduction and cognitive behavioral therapy; it essentially quiets emotional distress through mindfulness, utilizing proper breathing and meditation. These techniques aim to bring the individual into the present moment when in a state of distress.

When do I know if I need treatment with mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

If an individual’s mind is filled with emotional distress and general negativity, the person may feel trapped. A mindfulness-based cognitive therapist can help a person change their thinking patterns as well as their behavior through calm acceptance and compassion. This therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.

What should I expect from mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

This therapy often takes place in group sessions. A therapist will work with the group as well as with each individual. Meditation and breathing exercises are core practices that aim to invite inquiry and discovery into a person’s troubled mental state. The objective is to identify and lessen negative thoughts and behaviors and move toward optimal health and productivity. The individual will see life in a more realistic way. This therapy is supportive, accepting, and warm.

Is mindfulness-based cognitive therapy effective?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is evidence-based and effective. One study found that people with major depressive disorder have benefitted from this type of therapy; the person accepts their distressed thoughts and also moves into healthier patterns of thinking. This therapy also aims to move an individual away from automatic negative responses. This type of therapy can bring a person lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioral habits.
