I view my role as a psychotherapist as that of partner and guide, helping adults and children alike to rediscover their innate resiliency and capacity to work through and overcome obstacles.
It is often when we feel the most overwhelmed __ when we have "tried everything we know" to feel better, to make changes, to break out of bad habits or unhelpful behavior patterns __ that we find ourselves the most open to growth and change. This is the purpose of psychotherapy. To provide us with the opportunity to open to the process of self-discovery __ to explore our thoughts, our feelings, and our behaviors and to find or regain our essential wholeness and sense of well-being.

It has been my life-long passion to help others, as I have been through my own personal journey of healing and overcoming through many seasons in my life. I enjoy walking alongside my clients as they process their journeys, helping them to gain a better understanding of themselves and build skills in areas where they feel stuck. I believe that building trust and connection in our therapeutic relationship is essential. I have been told that I make people feel comfortable very quickly and that I am easy to talk to. My counseling style is to create a safe and nurturing atmosphere where you feel seen and cared about unconditionally.

This is where I come in! I work with my client’s as a collaborative partner in order to guide them to where they want to be in their mental health journey and towards their authentic version of themselves.
Most of us are able to go through the motions and present ourselves in a way that is perceived that we have it all together. While on the inside, we could be battling negative self-talk, the overwhelm of day to day life or trauma from the past, and struggling to cope with these big feelings in a healthy way. Maybe we are ready to make a change, but are unsure where to begin.

Trauma leaves us feeling disconnected from ourselves and others. You're someone who deeply desires to feel safe and connected in your relationships and with yourself but still feel yourself feeling out of control of your reactions and emotions struggling to feel like you "need to get it together". You want to show up differently in life and in your relationships but not sure how to get there. You're ready to make a change. You're ready to feel more grounded and safe and have the job and relationships you desire. I want to help you get there with yourself or your relationship. I am bilingual Spanish/English speaking.

I am also passionate about working with individuals/couples on how to strengthen and develop healthy relationships.
Many professional, successful people in all areas of life have had times when they struggle and getting therapy can help. If you are searching for a therapist, you are not alone! I believe everyone should have a therapist. Our mental health is just as important as taking care of our physical health, which is why I chose this field and hope to help break the stigma around mental health especially as a weakness, or just for crazy people. Everyone struggles at some point in their lives, which is why I am passionate about finding the right therapy that works for each individual.

My name is Kaitlyn and I am passionate about helping individuals, couples, and families navigate life challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, relational issues, and life transitions.
Has life become increasingly overwhelming lately? Have you noticed that the stressors in your life are affecting your mood, relationships, or work? Do you wish you could hit pause just to take a moment to reorient yourself? As someone who has been on both ends of therapy, I understand how difficult it can be to reach out and ask for help. In a session with me, you can expect to be deeply heard and listened to in an empathetic and non-judgmental space. I am here to help you explore your thoughts and feelings, and to support you in your journey toward healing, growth, and change.

I have provided individual, couple and family therapy to the community for 25 years and strongly believe that healing and growth is possible. Particular specialties include couple and family therapy including LGBT, anxiety, addiction, grief, and trauma. I utilize both traditional therapy and EMDR (for trauma). We all have past hurts and traumas. Until healed these impact our current relationships and EMDR is a quicker treatment with lasting results.

I don't have a specific client that is "ideal" as every client has their own unique history and backstory. I definitely look forward to meeting with people who are interested in self-growth but I also enjoy helping people get to the point to where the may be ready to work on their self-growth. If you are reading this, you would probably be the ideal client since you have taken the first step in just having that thought in your head about maybe it is time to give yourself the love you give to others and focusing on yourself.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
