Hello, I am Liam Huntley, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I have been working in Social Services/Social Work/Therapy for over 20 years and in Private Practice since March 2022. My main goal as a therapist when working with my clients is to help you see the truth of who you are and what you can be. It may sound strange to hear, but I love working with Trauma, whether it's from family of origin, childhood, or from today's world. I love this area because it is often the driving force of what is creating distress in our lives, and can often show up as Depression or Anxiety among other diagnoses.

Do you have traumatic memories that are unresolved? Do you need a safe person to talk to and help guide you through? If you're having difficulty engaging in new experiences, maintaining relationships, and calming your brain and body you may benefit from EMDR therapy. Our brain and body respond with specific behaviors and beliefs to help us survive traumatic experiences. However, when the traumatic events have passed, but our survival responses continue in healthy environments and relationships they can create dysfunction.

I work well with clients who have experienced unresolved trauma. My preferred treatment modality is EMDR, which I use to treat not only the trauma but the negative cognitions associated with trauma. I find that addiction, anxiety, and depression are often decreased when the trauma is resolved. I have successfully treated clients with: sexual/physical/emotional abuse, phobias, combat trauma, dog attacks, and childhood bullying. I also have expertise in treating children and adults with learning disabilities, as I was a school psychologist for 10 years.

Hello, and firstly kudos to you for taking the first steps (or more if returning to therapy) on reaching out for support! Whether it is part of your own self journey, or to connect with your family, partner or spouse, it takes courage, vulnerability, and commitment to ask for help. This is especially true within the chaos of our lives and the social pressures to put on multiple hats (Parent, Partner, Child etc.) that we wear. Therapy for me is about caring for the human facing me, and offering the space to where we can collaborate together to find an even greater meaning and purpose to your own lived experiences in life.
