Are you struggling with emotions that you don't know what to do with? Are you stuck in thought processes that are unhelpful, yet you are not sure how to change them? Do you want to learn how to regulate emotion, reduce stress, improve relationships, improve communication, reduce unwanted emotion, and feel comfortable in your own body? These are just a few of the things that I work with clients on, and I can work with you as well. I believe we are all humans doing the best that we can, and sometimes the best thing we can do is ask for help.

Imagine feeling in control of your life again and confident in yourself to leave your house and not worry about what others think about you. Imagine feeling able to manage your emotions enough to get through a whole day and not feel controlled by them. Imagine having your life back. It’s possible. One of the hardest things about finding a therapist is the concern about feeling judged for needing help. Know that my role is only in empowering you to remember what you are capable of, and I do so from a very supportive and nonjudgmental approach. Let's explore together what is blocking you from feeling able to fix this on your own.

I have been on a life journey that will continue forever because we never stop creating a greater more powerful self. Why we would do that, it feels encapsulating to be struck in a BOX of epic proportions feeling there is no opening the door the best of you! The opening to knowledge can result in the gaining of creative strategies for coping skills, self-care, managing symptoms, workshops, groups, books, exercises, seminars, videos, podcasts, motivational interviewing, artwork, Mental Health is recognizing/acknowledging its existence in yourself, family, friends. and the coping mechanisms to assist with managing symptoms.

Just being human can be hard, and with all that is expected of us in this life, it can seem almost impossible at times. The external world can feel overwhelming and unsafe and our internal world can feel chaotic and just as unsafe. At the heart of any therapeutic approach is the attempt to find peace within so we can learn to be at peace with what is beyond our control. At Balanced Life Therapy Center, our clinicians are trained, each in their own preferred approach to healing, to support the inner world of their clients and help them get connected to the power they hold to move towards the life they desire.

Do you find yourself getting irritable “for no reason”? Do you get caught off guard by sudden mood changes? Do you feel like your emotions get the best of you which makes you feel like a horrible person and impacts your relationships? Do you struggle with asserting your needs and setting healthy boundaries? This could be the result of trauma or other impactful past life events. Treatments like EMDR help to process these past experiences so you can heal, feel good about yourself, and re-gain control of your thoughts and feelings. As someone who had to do my own healing, I get how vulnerable and scary therapy can be. I also know

Hey there, I'm Jess Quessenberry. I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I am a non-binary person (she/they) who works with a wide variety of individuals on many different issues. My approach is very individualized and centered on the client. People aren't one-size-fits-all, so adapting to their personalities and needs is key. I tend to use Narrative Therapy as a way to help us see other possible stories about the events in our lives.

Hi! I work with adults and teens and love holding space for people where they are at and their experiences. I specialize in supporting women who find themselves overwhelmed by life's demands and struggling to prioritize their own well-being. Whether it's maintaining relationships, taking care of family, managing a career, or finding time for self-care, the pressure can be overwhelming. When every day feels like an uphill battle, it seems impossible to find time to care for yourself. I know you’re tired and this isn’t what you imagined for yourself.

Hello, my name is Maria Baldasseroni, I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist practicing in the state of California. I see the journey taken in psychotherapy as one of the most important journeys one can take for self-discovery and sense of self-empowerment. I enjoy helping others reach their full potential by gaining courage and confidence while learning ways to overcome the obstacles life can bring. Such as a loss of a loved one whether unexpectedly or naturally, issues with marriage or family relationships, divorce, health changes or addictions. My goal is to support my clients through a difficult time, help them to have hope, and tap into their inner resilience. I have experience with complicated grief. My heart is to walk along side those that have been affected by violent or unexpected death during an unbearable time, supporting them toward healing.

Emotionally Focused Therapists

Who is emotionally focused therapy for?

Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) is for couples who are emotionally distressed, stuck in an unsatisfying relationship pattern or feeling deeply alienated. They may even believe the relationship is beyond repair. Very often, the partners display intense anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal in the relationship. In addition, EFT is helpful to couples and individuals who have difficulty expressing emotions and those who have trouble regulating emotions.

Why do people need emotionally focused therapy?

People need emotionally focused therapy because the need for others is built into the brain, but the pressures of daily life can erode feelings of love, and couples often do not have the skills to find their way back to the comfort of each other. Instead, they may be stuck in repetitive patterns of anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal. Emotionally focused therapy regards such strong negative feelings as expressions of protest over the loss of connection and turns them into pathways of reconnection.

What happens in emotionally focused therapy?

Over the course of eight to 20 weekly sessions, couples de-escalate their negative emotional reactivity to one another so that they can listen to each other and be responsive to each other’s needs. Then the deep emotional and physical bond is restored, giving partners a sense of comfort and security, which they can use to solve whatever problems come their way. The therapist plays an active role, helping partners understand how anger and withdrawal are actually misguided cries for connection.

What problems does emotionally focused therapy treat?

EFT is designed to help couples stuck in dysfunctional relationship patterns regain closeness and rebuild their relationship. Typically, such couples experience considerable distress, with partners feeling alienated and distrustful of one another, not certain their relationship can survive. EFT is also helpful to individuals experiencing attachment-related fears of loss; it helps them learn to use their fears as a way of eliciting the closeness they desire.
