I am passionate about creating a nurturing relationship where you can begin to practice and embody the changes you want to create in your own life. I work with individuals, couples, children, adolescents and families. I specialize in women who are reinventing themselves and family members of individuals with mental illness.

I am passionate about drawing from the Black Feminist Healing Perspective and decolonizing how societal messaging may influence your experience within your identity.
As you think about the patterns in your life, you may find yourself stuck and curious about how messaging different moments in your past are impacting you today. You may be questioning the way you take care of yourself, if your feelings matter, and how expectations and messaging from the world around you impact you. You may even be struggling with knowing your loved ones tried their best and still hurt you and the guilt from being your authentic self. I am here to talk to you about those hard experiences, the thoughts and cycles that won’t go away, and the emotions that feel difficult, murky, or impossible.

Life can feel overwhelming and confusing; you may be struggling with PTSD, anxiety, depression, sleepless nights, or always doubting yourself. Nobody should have to go through tough times alone. As a forensic psychologist specializing in trauma, I am trained to treat people struggling with a range of traumatic experiences like domestic violence, childhood abuse, sexual assault, or those encountered by first responders. Recovering from your trauma can be especially difficult if you are also trying to navigate the legal system, whether it be for child custody issues, a restraining order, or civil lawsuits against your perpetrator(s).

Through telehealth-, home-, and school-based services, I meet my clients where they are. Usually families come to me because they feel stuck. Their child has difficult emotions, acts out, and cannot seem to listen. Teachers and parents struggle to feel effective and worry about the child’s future. Everything feels complicated and out of control.

As a Woman of Color, I'm very passionate and dedicated towards promoting wellness, healing and recovery. Living in our fast paced world, we often find ourselves feeling empty, depleted, irritable and disconnected. We begin to question life, our existence, and our purpose. My approach is holistic and mindfulness based. I have extensive experience working with diverse communities of color. This has allowed me to understand the mind body connection and how our environments contribute to our dysfunction. I am a bilingual, bi-cultural licensed therapist and graduated from Mt. St. Mary's University.

Feminist Therapists
How does feminist therapy work?
Feminist therapy sessions are not only personal but often cultural or political in nature, as the approach is based on the belief that people are affected by, and often struggle with, cultural and societal norms and biases, and need to move beyond those external pressures or stressors to tap their own confidence and engage more fully in their own identity. Sessions may therefore include discussions of sexism, diversity, and gender issues and talk of steps toward greater empowerment for patients who believe they have been silenced and seek to raise their voices.
What are examples of feminist therapy techniques?
Along with traditional talk therapy and analysis, a feminist therapist may employ techniques such as role-playing and assertiveness training to help clients build their self-esteem so that they feel they can act freely, and not based on cultural expectations or gender roles dictated by others. A feminist therapist may also engage in bibliotherapy, offering suggested readings on gender identity or social power inequities as they work toward viewing mental-health concerns through a broad cultural lens before focusing on how they affect the individual. Somatic therapy techniques, with an emphasis on body awareness, self-compassion, and mindfulness practices are also often part of feminist therapist practice.
How long does feminist therapy last?
As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for feminist therapy; people who believe that they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that had been holding them back. It may take some time to become comfortable discussing personal issues, but once a client feels they can do so, they could expect therapy to last for a number of months, typically including at least 12 sessions.
Does feminist therapy work?
As a relatively recent therapeutic technique, there is not yet a body of evidence proving the efficacy of feminist therapy. However, the approach is based on proven core principles of talk therapy, with a particular emphasis on developing a therapeutic relationship based on equality and authentic connection between therapist and client and discovering and building on clients’ personal strengths to help them gain a greater sense of personal power and agency.
