Dr. Christian Trausch is a licensed clinical forensic psychologist (PSY27219) with experience working with the Department of Corrections, the Department of State Hospitals, and Community support groups for alternative lifestyles such as polyamory and relationship anarchy. My preferred therapy modality is Schema Therapy, a third-wave therapy that integrates psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, and gestalt principles. I believe that good therapy needs to go beyond just changing thoughts and behavior. I believe self-exploration and deep personal insight are required for personal growth and prosperity.

Hello Hello, I'm Tabitha :) I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in San Diego, California. I work with clients in person in Carlsbad, CA, and statewide via Telehealth. I believe in empathetic listening, transparency, and empowerment as a means to unravel inner conflict. Inner conflict is often the underlying cause for “stuck points”. If you feel like you’re spinning in circles despite great efforts, we may want to assess for any inner conflict that may be present.

“Be yourself! Everyone else is already taken…” – Oscar Wilde. Being yourself is often easier said than done. As a trauma therapist, I see how easy it is for negative experiences to hinder our ability to be the people we want to be and create a life we want to live. Our bodies and minds are amazingly adaptable—we manage to find ways to survive horrible life events—but these survival instincts were meant to be used on a short-term basis. Traumas—big or small—are stored in the body and affects our ability to connect with others, to trust, and to feel safe in the world. The good news is, healing is possible!

After all the painful things you’ve been through, you may wonder if you'll ever be able to feel happy and at peace. You might feel anxious and overwhelmed by strong emotions, or numb, detached and exhausted. You may feel unsafe, and find it’s hard to trust people or open up to them. You might feel confused about who you are and where your life is headed. You may wish you could feel better, but question whether that's even possible for you. I believe it is possible, and I'm here to help you. I received my doctorate from the PGSP-Stanford PsyD Consortium, and have devoted my career to helping people heal from stress and trauma.

We live in a hectic and chaotic world. Sometimes the tools we have just stop cutting it. Everything is suddenly a struggle. You may have been to a bunch of therapists and it didn't work. You may never have been to therapy and you just want to figure out how to feel better. You’re not alone, you’re not “crazy”. I can help. I'm a non binary, queer, AuDHD clinician who practices from a sex positive, trauma informed perspective and comes with an impressive list of trainings and certifications, but more importantly, I'm a regular human who's here to connect with you on a genuine and authentic level.

Insta: elevated.therapy Tiktok: therapybydenise - My practice focuses on the economic and systemic influences of generational trauma within disenfranchised communities. Addressing trauma within cultural norms and family structures provides for a 360º vantage point of an individual’s world view. This is especially important when I am working with people of color, women, individuals of the LBGTQIA+ community, and any persons that comes from a minority status. Trauma and pain can be considered as muscle memory. This type of emotional memory can be passed down through generations and if left unexplored, can lead to emotional issues.

Dissociative Disorders (DID) Therapists

How does therapy for dissociative disorders work?

Dissociation may be triggered by stress or other upsetting circumstances, and therapy can address the traumatic events at the core of an individual’s dissociation. Understanding why a person may dissociate can help the therapist and the individual come up with alternative methods of coping. A person with a dissociative disorder may get stuck on negative thinking, for example, and treatment like Cognitive behavioral therapy is a gold standard for breaking such thinking. And dialectical behavior therapy, for example, can help a person manage their anguish through better emotion regulation.

Which therapies are best for dissociative disorders?

Specific approaches used by professionals include cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavior, psychodynamic, schema therapies, among others. Cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavior therapies are two widely used therapies that can help individuals with painful memories and past traumas. These therapies work to integrate an individual's different identities into one person.

Are there specific medications for dissociation?

There are no specific medications prescribed for dissociative disorders. However, psychosis, depression, anxiety, and/or panic often co-occur in dissociative disorders. A psychiatrist may prescribe medications for any accompanying symptom—which may include antipsychotics like aripiprazole, antidepressants like selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or anti-anxiety drugs like benzodiazepines.

How often and how long are therapy sessions?

Like any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual. Patients may see improvement within 15 to 20 sessions, at an average of 50 minutes per session, others may opt for 20 to 30 sessions over, perhaps, a six-month period. There are still other patients, especially those who have co-occurring conditions like depression and anxiety, who may need to continue sessions for up to 12 to 18 months.
