My approach is rooted in mindfulness and integrates psychodynamic theory, depth psychology, somatic psychology and nervous system regulation.
The capacity for healing resides in everyone. Therapy is about unhooking from self-limiting adaptive patterns, while cultivating self-acceptance and reconnecting with essential wise parts of yourself. I work with men and women using a depth-oriented, body-mind approach to explore the complexity of identity and relationships. My aim is to help you understand from an embodied perspective the deeper dynamics of your struggle, strengthen the parts inside of you that can move beyond it and engage in life with a greater sense of meaning, strength, and self-compassion.

We may choose talk therapy, mindfulness, EMDR (a treatment for trauma / adverse life events), shadow work, meditation, art, or other ways to bring the mind, body, and spirit into alignment.
I'm a holistic therapist who is passionate about helping you experience a more meaningful and fulfilling life. Change can be daunting. Feeling overwhelmed or stuck can prevent you from living in greater alignment with your purpose. This can impact your relationships, career, and general sense of well-being. My goal is to create a safe space and help empower you to connect with your own authenticity and meaning so that you can break free from the patterns that are limiting you.

My approach integrates EMDR, mindfulness, and somatic interventions.
Sometimes it feels as though the wounds we experienced in our early lives have control over our well-being and emotions in the present. These wounded places, which often show up in our relationships can be healed and repaired. I'm here to help you untangle those past hurts, to connect more deeply with yourself and in turn with your partner. Relationships are one of the most vital and potentially rewarding ways in which we can feel both secure and alive, which is why I’m interested in helping to guide you through the work of building healthy relationships and giving you the tools to learn how to be your true and most authentic self.

Together, we’ll use evidence-based techniques, philosophy, Buddhism, Stoicism, Mindfulness, the science of the mind-body connection, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to find some peace of mind.
We can figure this out. If you’re feeling tired, fearful, and disconnected, and your current way of living isn’t working, my approach to therapy will help. A lot of our suffering comes from hard to control, negative thoughts about ourselves and the world that got ingrained in us as we grew up. Often, we don’t even notice what’s keeping us trapped, and it’s tough to know exactly what to do to get out of a rut.

Seeing your child struggle with anxiety is such a helpless feeling. Your daughter is paralyzed with fear about what others may think of her, and nothing that you say can comfort her. Your son freezes on homework and tests, feeling that everything must be perfect, and you feel guilty, as you wonder if you've passed these anxious thoughts down to him. Sunday night comes and they're preoccupied with the thought of the impending school week, and no matter how rational you are with them, they can't shake the dread that comes with going to school.

Seeing your child struggle is such a helpless feeling. You wish you could find the right words that would fix it all, but nothing that you say, and no amount of logic that you use seems to help. Perhaps you have even tried therapy before, with little progress or success, and you're not sure if this is even a fixable problem. Your child's struggles have become the focus of the entire family. You just want your happy little boy or girl back and to have normalcy restored at home.

Rockwell Psychological Services offers psychological and psychoeducational evaluations and treatment for children ages 2-18, as well as individual, family, and couples therapy for adults. Parent training and education are central to our practice, as we believe that the most substantial and sustained change in child behavior comes when families are empowered to take strategies learned in therapy sessions and apply them to real life situations. We collaborate closely with medical, educational, and clinical providers both during the assessment and treatment process to ensure that families are fully supported.

What many of my clients share is a search to connect with a deeper understanding of themselves both as humans and, for some, as spiritual beings. Among them are international Angelenos and transplants, numerous creatives, healers, artists, writers and non-conventional people longing to heal, find new meaning, and re-connect with their inner wisdom and joy. I provide therapy in English, Spanish, and German.

Mindfulness-Based (MBCT) Therapists

How does mindfulness-based cognitive therapy work?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy originated in the work of John Kabat-Zinn of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He developed mindfulness-based stress reduction, which is a technique found in yoga and meditation. MBCT is a combination of this type of stress reduction and cognitive behavioral therapy; it essentially quiets emotional distress through mindfulness, utilizing proper breathing and meditation. These techniques aim to bring the individual into the present moment when in a state of distress.

When do I know if I need treatment with mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

If an individual’s mind is filled with emotional distress and general negativity, the person may feel trapped. A mindfulness-based cognitive therapist can help a person change their thinking patterns as well as their behavior through calm acceptance and compassion. This therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.

What should I expect from mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

This therapy often takes place in group sessions. A therapist will work with the group as well as with each individual. Meditation and breathing exercises are core practices that aim to invite inquiry and discovery into a person’s troubled mental state. The objective is to identify and lessen negative thoughts and behaviors and move toward optimal health and productivity. The individual will see life in a more realistic way. This therapy is supportive, accepting, and warm.

Is mindfulness-based cognitive therapy effective?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is evidence-based and effective. One study found that people with major depressive disorder have benefitted from this type of therapy; the person accepts their distressed thoughts and also moves into healthier patterns of thinking. This therapy also aims to move an individual away from automatic negative responses. This type of therapy can bring a person lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioral habits.
