Life experience in my marriage since 1972 including the joy and investment in children, their marriages, and their children enhance the magnitude brought to this work.
My clients find my compassionate listening combined with over 40 years of experience counseling full time, puts them at ease. I focus on helping people begin the process of resolving the concerns and issues they are facing in their lives. I have a Christian background and think morality, integrity, and emotionally healthy living as supported in scripture are significant qualities worth having in our lives. Even if we differ in religion, I can help you create a foundation for how you live and the changes you make within the context of your belief system.

I am most helpful to mid-life women (and their partners when that's appropriate). I help them pick a good partner, create sound relationships, take good care of themselves and ultimately get more of what feeds their soul. I believe it begins with a solid understanding of oneself, how you experience your life, and then re-forming your relationships to be more satisfying.

Do you find yourself at a crossroads in your relationship? Have you forgotten what true intimacy feels like, and what healthy communication is? Have you thought of giving up and just getting out? Maybe there are children to consider or perhaps there is still a flicker of something worth saving. RLT (Relational Life Therapy) is the last stop for many couples desperate to save a relationship. And it works. I am a Couples Coach, trained in RLT, and I believe in the transformative, enduring power of this work. It is for anyone looking for life-long change, swift results and dramatic transformations.

I want to give you the tools and support you need to start living the life you deserve.
Don't let these uncertain times leave you stuck in seemingly endless "what if..." thinking loops about the future, or mired in the past dwelling on what might have been. Find new tools to deal with our new world. Begin to understand where those and other negative thoughts come from, and what you can do about them. I want to help you stand strong for the long term.

I like helping people find contentment and happiness in their lives. I believe it is important to understand one's self and one's personal values and to make choices that are positive and life-affirming. I have had extensive experience working with people having experienced trauma and loss, relationship problems, and who have substance abuse problems. Creative people are also one of my specializations. My training is primarily psycho-dynamic along with cognitive-behavioral orientation. I believe mindfulness, spirituality and forgiveness are ways of helping alter patterns of behavior that can keep us stuck in our lives.

I value creativity and flexibility in the therapeutic process, including the use of techniques as diverse as goal setting and dream work, sensitivity and humor, science and metaphor, compassionate listening and straightforward honesty, cognitive understanding and intuitive knowing, behavioral change and exploring the meaning of life; all within an atmosphere of beauty and genuineness.
OUT BEYOND THE IDEA OF WRONG DOING AND RIGHT DOING IS A FIELD; I'LL MEET YOU THERE." -RUMI- A fulfilling journey in the counseling and psychotherapy process begins with a safe, caring relationship between my client and myself. So my first task is creating a secure environment that encourages and develops hope, respect, introspection, honesty, and self-responsibility in the therapy room.

My knowledge areas include depression, anxiety, serious mental illness, facility-based inpatient services, lgbtq issues, grief and loss and life transition issues.
I believe in the uniqueness of people, not just as individuals, but from moment to moment as well. My approach in talk therapy is to try to understand clients deeply, while keeping in mind that I will never know 100%. I consider clients’ upbringing, religion, politics, style, and opinions, but I put particular emphasis on the relationship between myself and clients. My hope is that sessions with me are warm, challenging, thought-provoking and thoughtful, so expect sessions to include tears, laughter and profound moments of appreciation for life, its difficulties and rewards.

Life Coaching Therapists

What can I expect from life coaching?

Clients and coaches will typically start by identifying the problem area(s) that the client hopes to address—then, the coach will help the client brainstorm potential solutions and explore concrete techniques to help the client attain their goals. Coaching is typically short-term and focused on finding solutions in the here and now, rather than exploring a client’s past. In addition to strategies aimed at the client’s specific concerns, coaches may encourage general stress management techniques such as meditation.

Can a life coach help treat anxiety?

Because the majority of life coaches are not licensed clinicians, they are not qualified to diagnose or treat anxiety. Anyone struggling with anxiety or another mental health condition should seek help from a licensed mental health practitioner. However, some coaching clients who struggle with subclinical anxiety report that working with their coach on other problems—such as career dissatisfaction or unhealthy habits—has a positive effect on their anxiety.

Can life coaching be done online?

Yes. While life coaching often happens in person, many coaches conduct sessions over the phone or via online platforms such as Zoom or Skype. Because life coaches are not subject to local licensing regulations in the same way that therapists are, they are able to see clients who live in other locations.

How long does life coaching last?

Life coaching tends to be a shorter-term process than therapy, though it does not always unfold over a specific period of time and is instead based on the coach’s or the client’s preferences. Coaching often takes place over three to 12 months but may be shorter or longer if necessary.
