I offer evening appointments! Currently accepting new clients! Sometimes we reach a season of life that we need a little help navigating, and the good news is that you do not have to do it alone. I have experience working with culturally diverse individuals in various treatment settings, with an emphasis on working with first responders and military and spouses, individuals in recovery, and adolescents/teens. As an individual who has worked along side first responders in a jail setting and the partner of a fire fighter, I have first hand knowledge of the demands and challenges that arise in the day to day work and in personal lives.

Welcome! Sometimes it takes a lot of courage to reach out for help and I am so glad you have made your way here. Everyday living can bring us to experience loss, grief, depression, anxiety, stress, and much more. Some experiences knock us down and shake us around a bit. As humans, we are wired for survival. So, when we are going through traumatic experiences our mind will go into survival mode sending such experiences to our subconscious to help us continue.

I am eclectic in my approach; some evidence-based approaches I utilize are: EMDR, mindfulness, cognitive/dialectical behavioral therapies, acceptance commitment therapy and narrative therapy.
Everyone deserves the time and space to lay down their worries, their fears, their past, their pain—and especially their hopes for the future and the change they want to see in their lives. My job is to provide that time and space to my clients, listening attentively, non-judgmentally and empathetically. Once we’ve settled into that space, we can work together to identify your goals and work to achieve them. I am experienced in working with adults and teens with depression, anxiety, bipolar, PTSD and trauma, mood and thought disorders, substance use, grief, major life transitions and self-esteem. If you're ready, I'm here for you.

Instead of looking at therapy as uncomfortable & difficult, consider this… we are our strongest when we have the courage to reveal & repair the most vulnerable aspects of ourselves. This is referred to as reframing, looking at a challenging situation in a new light. Let’s build some positive thinking patterns together. Laughing is also very therapeutic for the brain as it releases endorphins which increases focus, helps us integrate thoughts, & stimulates flexible thinking which are all important components of change & healing.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists
Who is DBT for?
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.
Why do people need DBT?
The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.
What happens in DBT?
Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.
How long does DBT last?
Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
