I have been trained in EMDR and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT).
Is something in your life not quite working the way you would like? Are you feeling stuck? It can often be helpful to talk though some of the issues we are struggling with in a therapeutic relationship that feels understanding, safe, and compassionate. Human beings aren't meant to "go it alone". In fact, feeling alone is inherently traumatizing itself. I have been licensed for over 20 years, working with individuals, couples, and families to heal their relationships, and to overcome trauma, depression, and addictions.

I practice EMDR, and I guide an exploration of emotion, beliefs and wisdom.
I wonder if you're scanning this site hoping to find someone who might finally get you, and offer some compassion so you don't have to feel so lost, worried, empty. I have 15 years of experience holding space for people who need some perspective, guidance, humor and a chance to discover their own wisdom. I love working with adults, young to not so young.

I utilize an IFS informed approach, EMDR, mindfulness and visualization, and/or relationship based therapy techniques.
I provide an accepting, nonjudgmental place for you to explore who you are, how you got to where you are, and to help you move forward in your life. If you are interested in learning about yourself and healing the wounds left by events in childhood and adulthood, I can help guide you on this journey.

I work with trauma, depression, attachment wounding, and low self-esteem and use EMDR to help adults move beyond areas where they have become stuck. My work focuses on finding effective strategies to operate in the present then tackling emotional flashbacks and quagmires that keep us tied to past. Finding a therapist who fits can make all the difference. My clients tell me that they feel safe, seen, and heard with me. Please call me for a phone consultation to find out if my practice would fit for you.

I’ve used EMDR since 1998 to help clients heal childhood wounds and traumas.
Navigating life's twists and turns can be quite the journey. The key is that you don't have to go through it alone. I specialize in working with women to overcome overthinking, perfectionism, people-pleasing, and all the things that accompany self-doubt. These things can cause anxiety, shame, and depression and keep us stuck. Sometimes, women overschedule and overwork to prove that they’re good enough. Occasionally, it takes the form of being unable to say no, leading to resentment and frustration, affecting all your relationships. All of this can and does affect your health as well.

I will help you create a calm and safe space so you explore your relationships with yourself and others. This safety will help you open up more vulnerable experiences which I can help you process and have a greater insight and relief from your emotional pain. Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) and EMDR and EMDR M (Modified, Laurel Parnell’s training) attachment trauma therapy help you process stuck patterns either from trauma or "negative cycles" with loved ones or with your inner self. These cycles repeat endlessly and can be very distressing. I work extensively with shame and the inner critic to help you settle and open up more

In addition to a psychodynamic focus to help you on your journey of internal understanding and healing, I use mindfulness, hypnosis, and behavioral techniques to transform intense and painful emotions and use EMDR to assist healing from trauma.
My psychotherapy practice is built around helping people create significant changes in the way they are able to live their lives. Those who have been challenged by the experience of becoming parents of a difficult child, those who have had their lives disrupted by trauma, those struggling with food issues, and those who desire to deepen their understanding of themselves are among the people who will find a welcoming space in my office to slow down and reflect. I believe that living a mindful and aware life is a true blessing.

I am eclectic in my approach; some evidence-based approaches I utilize are: EMDR, mindfulness, cognitive/dialectical behavioral therapies, acceptance commitment therapy and narrative therapy.

Once we’ve settled into that space, we can work together to identify your goals and work to achieve them. I am experienced in working with adults and teens with depression, anxiety, bipolar, PTSD and trauma, mood and thought disorders, substance use, grief, major life transitions and self-esteem. If you're ready, I'm here for you.

I offer a mind-body oriented approach, including EMDR, Brainspotting, and mindful-somatic awareness to help you rediscover that voice and learn to listen and trust it again.
You are committed to feeling better, you've tried everything, but still you feel lost in the pain. You've always been able to "fix" things in your life, why not this? This time, you feel stuck. Maybe you feel gripped by anxiety or panic. Maybe you feel consumed by grief from trauma or loss of a person, pet, or life dream. Maybe you're finding yourself in new life circumstances (a significant health challenge, life milestone, career or relationship change) and wonder "who am I now"? Life has a way of challenging us. There is a way through.

EMDR Therapists
Who is EMDR for?
EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.
Why do people need EMDR?
People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.
What problems does EMDR treat?
First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.
What happens in EMDR therapy?
First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
