I won't lie, it does take work, but I've guided many couples and individuals to complete therapy and find a hope and strength they once thought impossible for themselves.
Many times people feel they don't have anyone who truly understands them or anyone to show them the compassion they need. I am passionate about providing both understanding and compassion to all of my clients. I really want to hear your own story, understand the dynamics of your specific relationships and help you reach your personal goals and dreams. I've loved and cherished my family relationships, both while growing up, and now with my wife and children. I strive to provide a safe environment to share highs and lows and hopes and fears with clients as they too pursue those cherished relationships.

In every person resides the means and ability to overcome their personal challenges, however, not all therapists may be the best fit for every client. For example my session and fee structure are not typical, but work best with the psychotherapies I use and consist of comprehensive sessions lasting 1-3 hours each for a flat rate detailed below, usually 1-2 times per month, and are only provided virtually. If you require more consistent weekly in-person therapy or need to use insurance I would maybe not be the best choice for you. If the session structure and fee do not deter you and curiosity is your response to that, read on.

Struggling with addiction and feel rehab isn’t an option? Leaving your family, job, school and responsibilities for an extended period of time is not always needed to get yourself healthy and on track. If you or a loved one are struggling with addiction, I know the challenges of this lifestyle. Being caught in the cycle of addiction is hard-feelings of fear, failure, guilt, and shame. You may have tried stopping on your own, only to find yourself engaging in the same unhelpful behavior. Breaking this cycle alone is tough! Counseling may be more effective for you than rehab. I specialize in moderation & abstinence based approaches.

As someone who suffered many years with anxiety, panic, and disconnect from others, I know how hopeless, lonely, and draining it can feel.
Do you walk through your day feeling anxious and worried? Do you feel disconnected from your relationships or unable to pinpoint the feelings that keep holding you back in your life? Racing thoughts, panic attacks, social anxiety, relationship insecurity. My clients come to me seeking relief from anxiety, ADHD symptoms, and relationship difficulties that cause them to feel like they’re stuck repeating the same mistakes and getting the same results. If you are tired of feeling like you’re living your life out of a series of habits and survival then you’ve taken an important step and I’d like to work with you.

Whether your personal goals in therapy are to address recurring patterns in relationships, to adjust to new life-transitions, process addiction and recovery, or to find a safe place to process underlying burdens of shame, guilt, or trauma, my goal is to collaborate with you in a way where you can feel free to come as you are. At your pace, we will come to mutual understanding of your presenting concerns, identify your strengths and resiliencies, and develop effective strategies to use as we explore how thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and experiences influence you and your relationship to the people and things you love.

"We're all just hu man beings doing the best we can, the best way we know how." That resonated with me a long time ago. It is where I got stuck. It may be where you are. Striving for that ideal of perfection. It is a mirage and can show up as depression, anxiety, stress, etc. I want to walk with my clients through the discomfort and help them to achieve whatever goals they may have on the other side.

Male Therapists

As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?

There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?

Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client. Prospective clients should also ask what the expectation is for treatment, and what the fee structure is, and whether and which insurance plans are accepted.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?

Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with a male therapist. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges, in the case of male clients. Some women have prior negative experiences with women that predispose them to prefer working with a male in therapy. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?

Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
