In my practice I blend a Psychoanalytic, Attachment-based and Existential perspective, adjusting my style to your needs.
You’ve always had a sense that something is off, like an unanswered question lingering in your mind. Sometimes you feel disconnected from your authentic self, unable to put words to feelings, lost in a fog of uncertainty. At other times it feels like you’re too much for others and don’t know how to let it out without feeling like a burden. This existential dread has been a constant companion, but you’re sure there’s more to life and that some piece of the puzzle is missing. You long to remove this familiar barrier from impacting your ability to relax, to focus, to show up more as yourself.

My ideal client wants to enjoy their life and relationships more, notices patterns repeated in their lives, is reflective, perhaps insightful. Though many of us were wounded in childhood, few of us have had the opportunity to work through the challenges life presents. I look through the lens of our history and relationships to get under the surface of our symptoms. Our time together aims to bring relief from worries, fears, stress, low self-esteem & self-blame which greatly constrict our lives. I also work with separating & divorcing families, as a coach and coparent counselor to reduce conflict, put kids as the central focal point.

Pain is a natural part of life, but suffering is not inevitable. Suffering comes from avoiding our emotions. Although avoiding emotions can temporarily reduce anxiety, it ultimately limits our ability to live a fulfilling life. Effective therapy involves learning to confront our internal reactions openly and honestly. The more we accept life's challenges, the less we rely on harmful defense mechanisms. The kind of therapy I practice is about seeing, understanding, and letting go of these mechanisms so that the truth can emerge and do its healing work.

As a therapist, I look for the basic goodness of human beings and try to bring clients having locus of control in their lives and share perspectives leading clients to feel liberated so they find the meaning of life; fulfillment and happiness. This takes practice, as our minds naturally scan for the negative, but if we try, we can almost always find something good about you and others which will lead us to heal and peace and may bring harmony and joy to our life.

I am here for you. As we walk through life, we often carry a load of complex feelings and unresolved baggage on our shoulders. Sometimes, the weight of it all can be unbearable. This makes life harder than it has to be, especially when we are already trying to do our best with what we find in ourselves. As a therapist, I believe that a relationship with an attentive, caring, and nonjudgmental person can provide security and strength to explore our inner processes that sometimes seem stuck and unclear. Therapy will be a safe place to practice shedding light on the parts that you'd like more understanding, healing, growth, and change.

Our hands were empty except for our hands. (Ocean Vuong, On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous) I work well with people of color, LGBTQs, and genderqueer people struggling with burn out and navigating career challenges. I approach therapy as a form of "ethical listening" to feelings, dreams, thoughts, and anxieties. Here is a safe landing pad to slow things down to hear out how you feel in moments of distress with others. I help clients out of chronic anxiety through boundary skills and grieving unresolved losses in order to set you free. I see clients via telehealth only in California.

Psychoanalytic Therapists
Does psychoanalytic therapy work?
Psychoanalytic therapy derives from the work of Sigmund Freud. In this type of therapy, discovering buried thoughts and emotions from the unconscious will help a person work through their difficulties and negative behaviors. Research shows that psychoanalytic therapy can be highly effective, with patients reporting improvement in mood, quality of life, and overall well-being.
How long are people typically in psychoanalytic therapy?
Traditional psychoanalysis is in-depth and is conducted in five sessions every week. Today, modern psychoanalytic therapy is less intense and normally incorporates as few as one or two sessions a week. In some cases, positive change can occur quickly. However, if the condition, difficulty, or behavior is deep-seated, improvement may require many months or years of therapy.
Is psychoanalytic therapy suitable for young people?
Children and adolescents can benefit from this type of therapy. Many kids and teens are often unable to form and communicate their thoughts and emotions. Psychoanalytic therapy uses specific techniques such as dream analysis, symbolism, and free association or word association; all of which can be useful tools for less-communicative young people. Through this therapy, a patient will hopefully make connections between what they feel inside and how the world works outside.
Can psychoanalytic therapy be done online?
Modern-day psychoanalytic therapy is very different from traditional psychoanalysis. While an individual can sit face-to-face with the psychoanalyst for multiple sessions a week, they do not have to. Today, psychoanalytic therapy can be effectively conducted online or by phone. The key is that the individual confronts what is repressed and avoided, and this can be done whether in person or over online video.
